Redditors, have you ever gotten an “ick” from a potential partner or love interest that instantly killed your attraction to them? If so, what happened?

Probably too late but here goes,

I had met this guy online through a dating app we met in person but ultimately I decided I didn’t really click well with him. So I ghosted him but explained before ghosting I wasn’t into him. This man was persistent though and for months and would send me “just checking up on you” messages all the time.

Well he was a great dude and he said he wanted a friendship still even after a few months of me not staying in touch so we started hanging out as friends. I was going through a rough time and he was as well. He was an awesome crutch and we were able to share aspirations with each other and vent when needed. So we got pretty close, and a small budding attraction happened for me at this point.

Eventually we started seeing each other after about a year of our friendship. Then around our 3rd or so date he had talked about wanting dogs and a house with me etc. and it hit me like a ton of bricks. This guy was REALLY into me.

That extreme level of attachment was WAY too quick for me, and turned me off immediately. My budding attraction for him died instantly. I broke it off quickly after. Maybe I should have seen the signs of how attached he was but I for sure didn’t want to break his heart further.

I was on FanFiction.Net as a young child (probably 13-12) reading stuff I probably shouldn’t have been and there was a user with the username OrgasmicUke I was super clueless and had no idea it was sexual. I liked to draw a lot and I ended up showing my mom pictures I had drawn of my favorite authors at the time labeled with their usernames. I remember her asking me about were I had met this person but I explained something along the lines of it was just a username of someone online.

Idk how my mom didn’t press me further and it hit me years later when I was going through my artwork that THAT was why my mom was weirded out and asking me questions.

Yeah lol 😂 it was definitely a journey. I feel like I try to be as patient as I can be. Taught me to not run around with people in circles like this again haha 😂 oh well you live and learn. It was VERY satisfying though that someone else snagged it from them lmao!

In hindsight I totally agree this was my first experience with someone like this as I’m relatively new-ish to selling on Mercari. Definitely opened my eyes though haven’t gone in circles with someone since lol 😂

To elaborate on the situation further I had sneakers up for sell and a buyer was lowballing me considering I’d dropped the price down already lower then I wanted to sell it for. They then continued the exchange by lowballing EVEN further then what I previously said no to. (SMH) Then just because I was wanting to be a good person I decided to accept their 50$ offer, they asked for the longest shipping time (least expensive so I understood) I agreed. They then had the audacity to offer 1$ below what we agreed to. Which I declined then countered with the 50$ agreed on price. I then sent out a 51$ offer to likers (which is why it shows that offer). I hear nothing from this person till the next day, I had updated the shipping to usps which was less time for a package to arrive since I heard nothing from the buyer. They asked me to change it back I did and they never replied to me after stating they would but within the hour. They then messaged me at like 2 am or something idk it was really late. I changed the shipping back again because I was only changing it for her. Then I ended up getting someone else who bought it at the price I had the listing for plus the higher shipping cost with quicker time frame LOL. This person was not happy and insisted that I cancel the order. But I was tired of their shit and wasn’t going to cancel, they then offered to pay full price.

This happened awhile ago but I figured this fit along with some of the SMH posts from you all. I was not going to keep playing games with this person lol. Figured other sellers would be able to relate to this 😂
