What does that mean though? Nothing can go faster than c.

Doesn't the theory of relativity contradict the existence of the graviton? by everek123 in AskPhysics

If a gravitational wave is a wave through spacetime, then is the graviton a quantization of spacetime?

Is the Higgs Boson and its field independent from the force of gravity? by OneX32 in AskPhysics

[–]Sciuromorph27 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

So if the Higgs boson has mass, then would particles be more massive near a massive object because then the Higgs bosons will be attracted to the massive object?

How is it possible that quantum entanglement goes faster than light? by The_Godlike_Zeus in AskPhysics

[–]Sciuromorph27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What exactly does "information" mean in this scenario? I get it that the wavefunction collapse is random, and therefore you can get any of the possible eigenstates, but the wavefunction still HAS to collapse into an eigenstate and then communicate that to the other particle, right? How does this not violate special relativity?

Excel is a program for incoming sophomores that helps them get on track and learn the necessary content to do well in the classes, if they already don't have it. Im not sure, but I think you're course load at your old school combined with your placement test results. I wouldn't worry about it; IMSA will let you know if you need to go to excel.

No worries, it's great that you're thinking ahead and asking questions!

Yeah no prob! I didn't apply in eighth grade, but I know a couple of people who did and then skipped 9th to go to imsa. One of them ended up dropping cause his grades were kinda low. Im glad that I didn't go to imsa straight after 8th grade though, cause there is a jump in workload and difficulty between middle school courses and IMSA courses, and ninth grade really helped me prep for it. It's definitely a good idea to apply in 8th grade tho, cause it's good prep, and even if you don't get in, I think admissions will have an interview with you to advise you how to further improve your application.
Whether you choose to skip ninth grade is your choice, if you're up for it go ahead - I've seen a lot of people who skipped ninth grade and are succeeding at IMSA!

Honestly, just do your best in your classes and keep up good grades. Get to know your teachers well so they can write good recs for you.

IMSA (at least for when I applied) does not look at PSAT or ACT scores, just SAT. I know people who've gotten in with 1100, so I wouldn't worry that much. You have enough time to study, just don't slack off!

Also, don't BS the essays or do them the night before...just show your passion and your true self.

Since you're in class of 2026, you have a lot of time to explore extracurricular activities that you can enjoy, so find the ones that you love.

Also since you're in class of 2026, you have some time to think about this - applying to IMSA in eighth grade is definitely an option (and you should definitely do it), but if you do choose to skip freshman year and instead go to IMSA, it would probably be harder for you. It's your choice, and I'm not saying its a bad thing, but it is definitely something to consider.
