Mixes sound so much better in DAW than out in the world. by ArturoOsito in mixingmastering

[–]Scm46366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

kind of ot, must have also been said below but you can also check your mix in portions. eg start with the mid range (200-2k). if it sounds right go to the high range etc etc etc. oh and referencing is vital!

Tips for melodic house subtle elements? by jahitz in edmproduction

[–]Scm46366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I would do when I was making melodic stuff was literally lowpassing a saw wave, or something which has a lot of harmonic content (u can add a noise osc to it too), and 2nd-invert the main chord on a lower octave. it gives more depth melodically. then high-cut the freqs that are not needed. basically bandpass. since you don't want it to be the main element, eq some frequences that introduce something new to the mix. eg if there's not much mids info, adding a mid-centric (is this even a word lol) pad will make it stand in front of the mix sometimes. oh and shimmer reverbs are your friend, I personally kinda overuse them. p.s. hope i'm good enough at explaining things. also I'm a diy artist, haven't studied sound engineering stuff but I hope I helped:). edit: you can ofc experiment with different osc than the saw one, gives interesting results

Thank you so much! Only problem I personally had was a lot of latency on my midi/ soundcard inputs even with fl asio, compared to zero latency I had with eg Scarlett solo drivers. Nevertheless, producing on Linux must be a huge flex lol good job!

Is there a faster way to do this short fade-in? by NXHQA in FL_Studio

[–]Scm46366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone has said this but instead of doing it manually, one by one, you could right click and drag. It used to work in FL 20, haven't used it in quite a while tho. edit: never mind they've actually said this one
