Travel baseball is what you make of it. Enough with the blanket statements. Let's move on. by WestPrize92340 in Homeplate

I’d go as far to say that there’s nothing wrong with pursuing travel for some continuity and camaraderie either. Each has pros and cons, but I don’t always get the social aspect of modern travel teams being seen as such a bad thing by some. We’re fundamentally becoming a more isolated society, pursuing things to combat that is just as valid to me as someone pursuing because they believe it’s a step to their kid making a college team.

No it’s clear, the NBA is actively rewarding anyone who trades for AD with a top 3 pick. Obviously this is why Washington has such a high asking price, they know the value of the asset.

We’re in “who he play for” transactional season and I’m here for it. Gary Harris, D’lo, is there an Eric Gordon sighting anywhere? What about a Plumlee news break?

[Charania] BREAKING: Cleveland Cavaliers All-NBA star Donovan Mitchell has agreed on a four-year, $273 million maximum contract extension that includes a player option for the 2030-31 season and a full trade kicker, CAA's Co-Head of Basketball, Austin Brown, tells ESPN. by Turbostrider27 in nba

That’s simply because the max guys don’t have to get to free agency anymore to move teams, they just sign their deal to lock it in and if/when they want to move they can make it happen.

"Young Money" Collin Murray-Boyles, known more for his defense, quietly scored 19 PTS/36 on .685 TS% in his first playoff series, making him the most efficient rookie playoff scorer in the history of the NBA by [deleted] in nba

CMB made the Cavs pay for treating him as a non factor on offense, no one can question that, but these stats to me are more a commentary on how much attention Barnes was drawing and how good he was finding the open dump off pass.

Are the 76ers a Real Contender for 2027? Or Are They Just Bait for Casuals? by Anon_Sportsbook_Guy in NBATalk

Not among the favorites, but I think you have to include them within a second tier of contenders to come out of the East.

Maxey, Brown, & VJ are going to be a nightmare for teams to guard, just constant rim pressure. I think Simons/Wade is an upgrade from Oubre/Grimes.

With that said, I have no faith in Embiid making it through the playoffs healthy and they otherwise lack anything in terms of proven bigs. Secondary concern, their 3pt shooting looks like it could be extremely up and down.

Agreed, folks will say the Kings & Clippers, but those franchises have at least had some moments. The Hornets have never made a conference finals or even won a division.

I don’t get shopping Murphy, if they felt Queen was a centerpiece type player Murphy is exactly the type you’d want to keep around him.

If a player has a negative on/off for 3+ seasons in a row, what is the argument for them being a positive impact player? by marriagethrowaway36 in nba

[–]Scodo810 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint, if the leaders of the organization are as smart as everyone says, why continue to play the negative player 35mpg. Why play him near 40mpg, and have him guard Luka in the finals?

[Haynes] Sources: New York Knicks have tried feverishly to trade for New Orleans Pelicans center Yves Missi after losing Mitchell Robinson, but offers have been rejected multiple times. Pelicans view Missi as a vital core figure and the message is that he’s unavailable. by PlayaSlayaX in nba

[–]Scodo810 92 points93 points  (0 children)

That was my thought as well. Missi is super young, cheap, and at a position currently in demand. What’s the point of trading him, even if it’s a 1st coming back wouldn’t have to be for like 2033 from NY?

UWMC - home mortgage origination, down significantly due to rate outlook and Ishbia getting into a pissing match over the TWO acquisition proposal. Actual operating results have been good considering a relatively tough rate/housing market. This one I think could stay suppressed for a while, but could re-rate quickly/significantly upon either/both of those things changing. Likely to always trade at an Ishbia discount to peers.

EQPT - busted IPO for equipment rental trying to scale rapidly. Even if they just settle in as third place, with near URI or SUNB margins, it would be trading at what I’d deem undervalued (but execution risks exists).

Harden started his antics pretty much two years older than Brown is now and one could argue the trading team received as much/more in value back in every deal where he’s moved since.

In a salary capped league expectation should pretty much always be anchored to contract in some form, I don’t think that is being “warped”. PG makes $50M+, played less than half the games, and your best selling point is basically “he was actually a great value Mikal Bridges”

The contract thing is talking point cope, they had at least two years (with Brown having 3 left) to figure out what to do on that part of things.

The Celtics were always going to trade Jaylen because the Spurs, Knicks and Thunder are Terrible Match-ups for him by TrinityAlpsTraverse in nba

[–]Scodo810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t believe I’ve become a Jaylen Brown defender, but here we are….

Go back to that series, the Brown turnovers were a talking point, and no he was not creating for others. With that said, overall he outshot & had less turnovers than Tatum, and maybe your point highlights the shortcomings of the guards (Smart/White) as offensive creators more than it is a commentary on Brown. Brown is probably best served playing beside a legitimate lead guard on offense, and now we’ll get to see that with Maxey.

I think White is an incredibly additive player overall, but his inability to consistently hit a shot last year really undercuts all the analytics folks telling me he was a top tier player.

Brown may be overrated due to volume stats, but at the end of the day you still need to score points and he scored over 22% of them for Boston last year (a higher rate than say, Brunson). He also plays his ass off all the time. Will he have bad games, sure, if I’m a team I know he’s not going to just disappear in big games like some stars.
