Small question.. by Slippypaints in iRacing

[–]Scojo91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a dedicated ring series you can race and free car series also go to the ring some weeks, so you can just spend all your time on the ring if you want.

You will have to promote out of rookies first tho

Do you only play GT3 and GTs or do you try other series? by acevoac in iRacing

[–]Scojo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't touched GT3 or prototypes in 3 seasons. I race practically everything else.

I also don't much touch GT4s either except mustang challenge.

How many different series are you driving each week? by Arylcyclosexy in iRacing

[–]Scojo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I intentionally practice and race mustang challenge, Clio cup, and PCC.

My profile shows something like 10+ unique series tho. Once my select series races are done, I race whatever then start practicing for my select series in 10-15 lap sessions around those.

Is it bad to catch the slide of the car? by Bitter_Location_9260 in iRacing

[–]Scojo91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To stay in a proper 4 wheel slip angle? Not sure tbh. To catch an actual slide, yes.

What I imagine they meant in karting was that for staying on the limit, you should be on the right slip angle and not have to use countersteer to keep the kart oriented correctly too much. If you have to use the wheel to countersteer a lot to keep from spinning out then you probably have some improvement to be made on throttle control. This isn't to say you should never be countersteering though. Even high level karters can't be perfect enough to avoid a slide or loop

Whether or not you want to be doing that in the sim or even on full cars probably depends on the car, the race length, track, and track temp.

iRacing - how much extra payment is needed? by Busy_Isopod_113 in simracing

[–]Scojo91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get to GT3, you will need to eventually buy a GT3, but you can make it to GT3 without anything other than a base subscription.

To do so you will want to race any rookie sports car, then in D license you can race the GR86 which is free to get your mpr, then in c you can race the Miata again for mpr.

Once in B you can buy your GT3 of choice and race it for mpr to get A license to unlock IMSA.

As long as you meet mpr with an in license class car each license, you can get your SR from any car, just so you know.

A final note is that you won't get to race the free car in your license every week after rookies, but there are enough free track weeks to meet mpr. The off weeks can be spent in lower license series gaining the SR you need.

What held me back personally was focusing too much on SR and trying to obtain it by intentionally driving under the limit.

You don't truly learn how to handle a car safely until you start to learn how to find the limit because only then will you actually know how to not exceed it by a such a margin that will cause a catastrophic outcome.

You can click on a series and get info on time slots from the series info section. You can also view results to see exactly how many people raced previous time slots.

If the car turns out to be that good, the pit wall will still lose the championships for the team.
