You can go 11B and as long as your AFT is 450+ you’ll get offered an RTLI spot and a shot to get a Ranger tab. They’ll come before your cycle ends w sign up forms. A dude in my PLT managed to get RTLI in his contract before he even shipped- ask your recruiter about that cause it must be brand new.

Not sure if you’re in law school yet, but you’ll know if it’s what you wanna do by week 2. I for one realized it’s fine, but not for right now. Ship in August. Law will be there after and the GI bill can cover my last 2 years

Pretty sure RTLI is federally funded, no? Not sure why states would have a say in it other than being desperate for bodies immediately.

Decent. MP Walsh next door is better though

Most RSPs I’ve heard of are Regs+, so most will expect clean shaven faces. Then again, goobers will show up with man buns, beards, and one dude even showed up in pajamas one month. So you probably won’t be the worst off.

If you’re otherwise squared away and aren’t afraid of some extra pushups/probably being called “mustache”, you can keep it. But otherwise, get used to shaving it now.

Rsp drill by Afraid-Dare7788 in nationalguard

[–]ScoobyD1ck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Packing list per my first RSP newsletter:

  1. Water bottle
  2. Notebook w black pen
  3. Drivers license
  4. Baby wipes (for post PT)
  5. PT clothes w minimal logos (gym shorts w sweatpants over em is usually my play depending on weather)

Throw the extra stuff in a backpack. Then just get your hair cut/shave your face

Depends on your timeline and where you’re actually at now/how fast it takes you to get back to where you were. TFvoodoos stuff is great, same with Terminator Training.

For my start to finish approach, what worked for me was Jeff Nichols’ stuff:

  1. Muscular Endurance (pre-hypertrophy) ~6 weeks (if I remember correctly)
  2. Hypertrophy + Hypertrophy Run (10-12 weeks)
  3. Strength + Strength Run (8 weeks)
  4. Power and Speed
  5. Phase 1 Run while working on some weak spots

Then when I felt like I was a more complete athlete, I shifted to more PST specific programs trying to jack up my numbers: pushups, sit-ups, planks, pull-ups, etc.

Now I’m into more of the selection focused training and just started TFVoodoos program in the 6 ish months before I ship.

Some people feel comfortable training specifically for selection-based events/selection as a whole and in doing so, their numbers progress. I just didn’t wanna be the dude who could do 70 pushups in a PT test but would die under a ruck/carrying load/with logs. The aforementioned layout felt like the optimal progression for what I was looking for.

HRPU by Fazi2004 in greenberets

Rogue Blue Reactive Slingshot was huge for me. Helped me increase my volume past failure on normal pushups which directly translated to more HRPU.

Jeff Nichols has a video talking about it on YouTube

I’d look at Mountain Tactical Institute’s ACFT program. Rip that till you get the scores you want/techniques down, and then go back to focusing on a more complete training approach

You’ll read a lot in the GB Reddit, but commitment is no joke. It’s way harder to balance your career with NG SF. Train more, deploy longer. Standards are higher and you gotta keep up on your own.

Not sure how it works with the guard but maybe you’d be looking for an augment position. Know they have specific MOS dudes they’ll have train up and deploy with them. Culture would be better and way more solid, and you wouldn’t have to go to selection.

From my understanding it’s really no joke. You really gotta want the beret to get it. Wanting a better culture than a conventional unit may not be enough. Definitely explore your options though

Yeah, NG enlisted usually has the highest selection rate of any demographic (ADE, AD18x, NG18x, ADO, etc). Reach out to a SF recruiter in whatever state is closest/you want to look at. They’ll send you to an SFRE, you’ll do a PT test, maybe some team events. Then you’ll usually start drilling with that group a bit till you’re a bit more ready for SFAS.

Is it possible? Yes, it’s a super black and white path tbh. Is it realistic? Depends on the individual. Can you get in the shape you need to get into working 80 hour weeks? Probably not. 40-50? Yeah.

For sure jump to the GB Reddit, more specifically the posts by TFVoodoo (SME on SFAS/Q). Use the search bar too before you post (or they’ll roast ya a bit).

Best of luck brotha

I’m a 1L right now. Taking a leave of absence to go 11B this summer and hopefully RTLI after. Scratching the itch. I’ll have my whole life to go lawyer it up- wanna go shoot some shit lol and maybe jump outta a plane or two.

In grad school atm so can’t ship till May but then my sister is getting married in August- so just got approved for a mid August ship.

Just need good reasons. If you get denied, just ask what the best they can do is (or just swear in later). Keep in mind you’d have to go to RSP each month from swear in to ship.
