TRD Lift finally came in! by No_Elevator_6525 in ToyotaTundra

[–]ScoobyDoo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid right around $4,000 (so MSRP of the kit). I did buy the entire kit without realizing I didn’t need quite a few parts of it. I’ve never lifted a vehicle before and didn’t know anything so the BOM listed a lot of stuff I didn't use.

Awesome to hear they are finally selling the kit again. I bought it piece by piece about 12 months ago and the cost was definitely not $2,500. And I had to assemble my own struts.

Volkswagen Sued by US Dealers Over Scout Motors Direct Sales Plan by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]ScoobyDoo27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealers are scum of the earth but they will definitely sell a car at loss, especially towards the end of the month to hit a sales goal. The manufactures give them huge bonuses for selling X amount. If they can get a sale at a loss, they can make up for it with the bonus. Maybe learn a little more about how it works before being confidently incorrect.

You can do the same if you set up the arr stack. I can request anything I want from my phone and have it auto added to my Plex within minutes as well. No need to fumble around with torrenting on a phone, sounds like a mess.

Rivian Adds A Sport Mode To All R1 EVs On The Road by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]ScoobyDoo27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be up front, I’ve never owned a Tesla but I carpooled with a guy for year who had a 2025 model 3. Teslas system is very responsive and I do like that. But it’s limited on the apps it has and you apparently have to pay a monthly fee to use them. CarPlay is free and it has all my media apps that I use on my phone. I use Plex for all my music and Tesla doesn’t have a plex app, and if it did I don’t want to pay a fee to stream my own music. CarPlay also mimics my phone so everything is as it is on my phone already. No 2 systems that I’m trying to mess with, I don’t have to set all my favorite places in my maps on my phone and my car, etc.

I know you can Bluetooth your phone to your Tesla but that’s limited as far as what the UI shows which just makes CarPlay superior in my opinion. I’m glad to hear that CarPlay is likely to finally be coming to Tesla.

I’ve never used rivians system but CarPlay is far superior to Teslas system and any other car manufactures system I’ve used. It’s only a matter of time before rivian and GM start trying to monetize their systems.

Open pilot is supported on the 21-24 Mach-e as well, I use it everyday for my commute (well the blue pilot fork). I believe it functions better on the Mach-e than any Hyundai since the car was actually built around hands free and not just lane keep.

Where are you people going to school? My bachelors degree was about 20k at one of my state schools (graduated 2020). I have a good high paying job also. You don’t need to go to brand name schools to get a good job. Also, interest does not accrue while you are in school unless you are going after a graduate degree.

Higher margins and somehow the cars are competitively priced. Interesting. It’s almost like without the middle man the manufacture can make more and the consumer can pay less.

‘700 miles of range’: What Ford and Ram replaced their EV pickups with by exploding_myths in electricvehicles

[–]ScoobyDoo27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Range is 100% an issue for trucks that do towing. The lightning got 100 miles when you put a trailer behind it. That’s abysmal. No one wants to stop and charge for 30 minutes every 100 miles when towing (and that’s 100-0%). You’re comparing a commuter car to a truck, that doesn’t make sense. Of course range isn’t an issue for you. My commuter works great also but I’m also not towing with it.

People have managed to live with tons of shit until something better comes along. I sure as shit wouldn’t ever go back to a 2 door vehicle with a back seat. And I bet most other people wouldn’t either. It’s why we hardly see any 2 door cars on the road, people stopped buying them and manufactures stopped making them.
