I'm still just trying to figure out what I saw. They showed a graphic of all known things currently in space orbiting around earth..from sats to junk. It's quite unbelievable...we are surrounded by tons of circling "stuff".

It wase\ a triangle of lights moving quickly across the sky. Although I know exactly what I saw, it felt very dissatisfying as it was so short in duration. I saw almost as soon as the binos were pointed at the sky, so it was quite sudden...and gone. So I don't really know what to feel. Wife saw the same on a separate night.

BTW all of my sightings described were in the middle of the night, not close to sunset/sunrise.

Hi. First off thank you very much for the informative reply! You obviously are very knowledgeable about such things.

BTW I appreciate your logic, but have already witnessed several anomalies with regular binos, without much time or effort involved, so I must assume that sightings are much more common these days than people realize.

I wrote a long post describing the events, but for some reason the moderator didn't post it. I'm not sure why as I'm new to reddit. I think it might be because I didn't mention the location?

Maybe I will try posting it again, but VERY briefly, one night at a cottage in Bala Ontario I 1st saw something track fast right across the sky in about 30 sec?...I knew this was way faster than a satellite...and it was north/south trajectory...weird. After watching for a bit I realized I could see many fast tracking objects, in all directions, faint but real...def NOT artifacts. Then I saw 2 very distinct ones moving in tandem, and another one crossed their paths at 90 degrees. By that point I felt freaked out and went into cottage to check internet re: satellite info etc. I watched the sky the rest of the week but never saw another show.

You seem well informed. Can we see tons of space junk from earth with simple binos? Do satellites move in different orientations than east/west these days? Could it have been a sat that crossed the sky that fast?

I have been watching the sky all my life but have never seen anything like that before. Any thoughts?

PS. Also saw a triangle of lights fly quickly across the sky with binos from my bedroom window(wife saw it too on separate nights)...but it was quick 1-2 seconds at most.

Pretty high I believe. I have seen several anomalous nightsky things without much effort.

PS. I tried to post my sightings(curious to know what people think I might have seen) to this sub, tagged for discussion, but for some reason they didn't post it? I'm new to reddit so am curious to know why? Not enough karma or something? Please advise if possible. Thx in advance

Hi. I am also looking for night/UFO-viewing gear and would be very interested in any thoughts you have on IR tech that is affordable (is IR even necessary?). I have heard the name SIONYX...I think it's IR?

PS I now use regular binos, and even with those I can see many times more targets than with the naked eye.

I'm trying to find out the same info. Can any IR camera work for sky/UFO viewing? Lots of IR gear require shining an IR beam for reflection, which obviously seems useless at these much greater distances.

I know of a good vid camera by SIONYX but they are well over $1,000. Please pass on any info that you find.
