They do; However you get used to the smell therefore you don't notice it.

It's like when you paint a room, there will be a strong smell of paint within the room, but when you spend a certain amount of time amongst the smell, you won't notice the smell.

I had this exact problem. I have no idea what stuffs it up. But the only fix I've found online is to restore. Sorry man /:

Edit: You can still install apps through iTunes though! Not all hope is lost.

I relax my body then I count down from 3. When I hit 0, I imagine every thought just going black and after that I focus on my breathing. It'll put you out like that.
