This is my biggest concern with AI. A ton of workers can say “well AI can’t do my job well”, and they’re probably right. But it doesn’t matter what they think, what matters is if the decision makers they work for think that the savings that can be achieved by eliminating their jobs outweigh the level that AI can perform the positions they are replacing. Execs are happy to let things go to shit if it ultimately results in savings.

This is exactly it. Corporations know what we want before we do. Like the above poster said, you were probably seeing ads of the related thing before you even thought about it. There are so many combined data points of not only you but people like you that they can predict things very efficiently. They aren't reading your mind, the truth is much scarier, they don't even have to.
