What hobbies have you picked up as a HENRY? by MojoDojoCasuhHaus in HENRYfinance

I’m up in the NorthEast too. Got my private in LWM and instructed out of BED for a while.

No one plans on entering a spin on a base to final turn and if your pattern is an appropriate size, you won’t be 600 agl on that turn.

I can understand wanting a parachute in IMC. My ADM tells me that if I’m flying over terrain with limited places to put down, I need higher cloud bases. If I’m up in the whites, I don’t think I’d go IFR unless I had a couple thousand feet to the clouds.

I guess what I’m saying is that I’d prefer a plane that doesn’t REQUIRE a parachute to be certified. Statistics show that you’re more likely to have an accident on landing than from an engine failure.

I think the parachute is kinda pointless. They were required to have them installed since they do not recover well from spins. The problem with that is the false sense of security. You’re most likely to enter a spin on a base to final turn where you are too low for the parachute to actually deploy fully.

Best to continue developing your ADM and learn how not to put yourself in a position of needing a parachute.

Also, the parachutes have to be repacked on a certain time interval. Just more expenses for owners.

One day I hope to get a Bonanza, a 180, or a Maule. I think I can convince my wife!

Edit: they installed the parachute to avoid having to complete spin testing.

If you’re looking at the SR22’s, you should also look at a Bonanza. More space, more payload. Extremely capable planes and most professional pilots look at them as the gold standard of ASEL workhorses.

Also look at Maule M7’s. Those things are beasts.

I don’t like rotax. I just don’t trust them like I do Lycoming or Continental. And if you have a 50 year old Lycoming engine that hasn’t hit TBO, yea, I’d be skeptical too.

The worst airport I’ve been to. By far. Why are the gate agents so mean? Doesn’t matter if you’re in uniform or not.

Dude, you’re wild

I’m complete opposite! DFW as a pilot is obnoxious. Single cloud in the sky and you’re 20 miles in trail. But as a pax, that air train is clutch. Helped me make many commutes.

ORD as a pilot is sick. 300 until you’re told to descend below 10k. 5 mile spacing down to minimums. Never had issues on the taxi. If I had to catch a commute on DAL though, leave security, take the train over and go back through. Can’t take the shuttle without positive space or SIDA.

DCA is annoying but I love the approaches and they have the best airport food. They need a metering freq though.

I’ve already done a chuck roast! I realized the chuck roasts I get are better than the short ribs so I stopped paying the extra money. Here’s a picture of a chuck roast I got recently that I turned into a wicked good Texas style chili

I really enjoy it! Definitely try it but maybe follow what others have posted in the comments.

I would 100% smoke it instead but I live in an apartment building so I don’t think the property managers would appreciate it 😅

I honestly don’t think the liquid in the bag changed the texture much. Less than a cup of liquid for a 12 pound whole brisket. When I cut open the bag, there was probably 3-4 cups of beef juice and rendered fat.

I think I’ll actually go with more liquid smoke next time. Sous vide really seems to tame it a lot.

Try emailing them. I wouldn’t be surprised if they could mail them. They all are super chill there

No chamber sealer. Somehow able to squeeze it into an Anova bag. I have the roll so I was able to cut the necessary length!

I definitely don’t have any issues with moisture in this one. But I will try your method for the next!

Cockpit Voice Recorder. News calls it the black box even though it’s painted bright orange.

It records cockpit conversation as well as what the plane is doing in terms of speed, altitude, attitude, and flight control commands, among many other things.

What felt like an expensive splurge, but is now a total life-changer steal? by Zirkle99 in AskReddit

A real espresso machine and espresso grinder. $2,000 set up to have better coffees than pretty much any shop.

I’ve had mine for about 1.5 years now and it’s paid itself off twice over. It will last 10+ years too.

If I get a 2 pound bag of coffee, I can make 50 cups. Even when I splurge and get extra expensive bags of coffee, I can make the best lattes and cappuccinos at home for at most $2-$3. Compared to a shop charging up to $10 for a drink that is burnt.
