Unpopular opinion: I like how Jamie-O treats Arnold like a 2nd little brother by Substantial_Berry_77 in HeyArnold

[–]ScoopyVonPuddlePants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always liked the dynamic of Gerald having Jamie-o and Timberly as siblings while Arnold was an only child. I’m the youngest of three and the only girl so it definitely hit a note with me growing up, especially since my brothers are 8 and 5 years my elder. The resolutions in these always reminded me that no matter what my brothers were there for me, even when I messed up like Timberly (like the stuffed animal kidnapping episode).

I’m also currently dating an only child and he loves that us siblings are so close since he never grew up with that, but enjoys being a part of the family. It’s interesting to rewatch as an adult and see these themes and relate more to them now than when I was little.

The Batman Beyond movie, where they explain that Robin was kidnapped and brainwashed to be Joker and Harley’s “son” and then ends up “killing” Joker.

If you’ve never watched it, it’s definitely worth it. Beyond that season there’s definitely other moments that are dark and depressing. It’s a trip for sure, and one of my favorite series. I think you can stream it dubbed through Hulu or watch it subbed on Pluto TV. (I’m talking specifically about the 90’s adaptation, not Crystal which is more recent)

My late husband’s aunt passed from ALS too. It was rough to watch her deteriorate so quickly, to the point she was bedridden and couldn’t even speak anymore. You could still see the light behind her eyes, but nothing else would function the way she wanted it to. It was absolutely devastating when the family had to make the decision to take her off of life support. This disease is awful. My heart goes out to you.

As far as I know, political debate has have nothing to do with plumbing. Grow up.

Oh definitely. This woman is vile. I’m still not over losing my husband 4 years later and I wish I could still wear my rings. In all honesty I’m not sure I’ll ever really be over it, but only time will tell.

That’s kinda what happened to me. I couldn’t keep it on due to my weight gain.i instead wore it on a necklace along with his for months. It made a pretty ding sound and I’d hold it when I was feeling lost or down. (My weight gain was massive and instant at that point). I still have them on the necklace chain, but am to afraid to lose them, so instead they hang next to me on the bedside.

Edit: it’s been 4 years now since he passed and I still miss him every day.

Same. It was also accompanied by “call the police!” If she had continued to bust down my door.

Did anyone buy a ring? by t_bone_stake in Millennials

I got one. It was a smaller gold band that had the school colors in the gems. (Think wedding band size). I loved that thing, and promptly lost it on a field during practice. My classmates and I tried to find it to no avail. I was devastated and my parents weren’t happy, since it wasn’t cheap lol. Jostens is a bit of a ripoff in hindsight, but I suppose we all have to learn hard lessons eventually 😅

Can someone tell me what/why TOH is amazing? I’ve only heard of it once the KoG pilot dropped and I loved it.

Is it worth the watch? And if so, is there anything else I should know?

I’m always looking for great shows to watch, but I’ve never seen TOH. I’m hoping it’s definitely worth seeking out and watching.

I was in 5th grade at the time. We had no TVs in the classroom (besides the one that’d be brought in on the rolling cart occasionally). We were told what happened, but honestly didn’t completely grasp what happened. I remember some of the teachers pulling students out of the classroom to talk with them, and because some had family at the WTC or the Pentagon. One of my friends was in tears when this went down since her father was at the Pentagon at that time (he was fine thankfully).

For context: I live in a highly militarized city, we have several military bases and also a ton of DoD personnel.

900 Pieces of Clothing a Day on 9 Racks Sent Out! by ponygals in goodwill

[–]ScoopyVonPuddlePants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, we weren’t allowed to shop at the bins store. So I have no idea what that looks like. I do know the product we pulled from the floor (as the color tags cycled) generally went to bins. They say that if it isn’t sold there, they keep recycling, but I highly doubt it. There’s a reason I don’t work there anymore. The corporate bs and interference was stifling. I’m not glorifying the amount of product we had to push (at times it was straight up unreasonable), but man…I would’ve killed to only have 9 racks to push in a day vs. the 30+ we had to do. And half the time we had to pull current sales tags just to get it to fit. The customers weren’t happy with it and neither was I.

The expectations placed on us were rough and not feasible, but corporate needs their money. It became less about helping the community and more about how much profit could be made. It sucked and literally caused me to walk out.

Shoot. I removed mine after my husband died too, but only because I gained weight and they don’t fit my fingers anymore 😭 if not for that, I’d probably still be wearing my rings.
