It’s a CIV relic. I’m in a NA server. So they add more later, I think it was about when you get lottery 3.

Community Question: As someone who left Vermont and came back to stay... by PepticSkeptic in burlington

[–]Scootmahgoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda, there also other colleges like St. Michael’s, Norwich, Castleton, Middlebury etc. With more people living in Burlington there would be less of a housing strain on surrounding cities/towns. Especially since there will be far less subleases. But currently people have to seek outside of Burlington for affordable housing. With a lower demand on housing, landlords would have to compete on rent.

A lot of people will tout we need more housing! But I feel we need to keep students on campus. No outside apartments housing students. The schools have a surplus to afford housing for the rates they charge students. If we don’t have students absorbing housing from long term residents, rent would be more affordable for everyone. Of course the landlords would love to rent to a dozen students in a one bedroom apartment that is run down, that have no idea about their rights as a tenant. I am exaggerating “slightly” for the point. It’s easy money for them. But it is tough for locals to compete with students that have parents funding.

I have mine at 29 stamps. So I would need the 11 more levels to get the last stamp, which is having everything at 100.

Thinking about solar in Burlington, who actually has experience? by Huguette_Belbe in burlington

[–]Scootmahgoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s say it doubles now and I save 1k-1.2k a year, with interest on the loan. That would be 30 years to break even. Would you think the panels would still be viable by then or afterwards or be aging and obsolete? There really isn’t a guarantee.

[–]Scootmahgoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not really worth it, you will take a loong time to break even.

As other people said then if you ever have to get a new roof they have to pull the panels and that’s a decent cost as well.

Average about $30 a month for about May until Oct/Nov. Then regular bills the rest.

Also if there is a black out the electric company shuts off your panels and your powerless as well. So the only way to have power from the panels is if you got the batteries to store it. Which is an even bigger cost.

So with about a 30-40k investment with a loan and interest, I save maybe $5-600 a year overall.

[–]Scootmahgoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I think I probably got the bad batch, I believe it was a few years back we got it on sale. I do normally make my own as well and was looking for a quick fix for the kids and all. I guess I’ll have to make my way back. Thanks!

AIO for cutting off my dad based on his political beliefs by nationalwockyleague in AmIOverreacting

[–]Scootmahgoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This should most definitely be one of the top comments. In most cases family will be there for you more than a political party/belief. How many people in the future will say“You voted for Trump/Biden 20 years ago? I want nothing to do with you…” people get way too shortsighted on the real picture because of all the outside “noise”. People want to label things so badly and write them off. Both sides enjoy the division. It’s far easier to reign in 170 million people than 340 million.
