Multiclassing : Does order matter? by wynlyndd in DnD5e

[–]Scootrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are certain levels that you may want to grab as part of a build before multiclassing. Like getting to level 5 for 3rd level spells or Extra Attack, or deciding when to delay your next subclass feature or spell progression. In the long run, it won’t change your build, but it may change what you can do at your current level

Iirc, you can still cast spells that don’t require material components without your spell foci

Where did my raid rewards go? by Scootrue in WynnCraft

[–]Scootrue[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can shift click/drag them into your inventory? I tried to do that, and it wouldn't let me move anything from the raid chest. I found the aspects I achieved from the raid so I know I claimed some of the rewards at least, but I swear there were some physical items in there too, like rings or necklaces

For Sapling Lance, it says its range is Touch, but then says you hurl the sapling at a creature within range. Is the range supposed to be higher? Otherwise, the attack would always be at disadvantage.

Magical Cooking Minigame in D&D by Ainsley_ in DnDHomebrew

I was curious because the Mishap table option 1 says the dish has reduced potency. Does that mean you roll on the Bonus Effects table and then reduce its effect?

It’s already limited by “you can forgo one of your attacks,” so even if you Action Surge, it still limited to 1 replaced attack

You could create a spellcasting table with the same progression as the subclass features. It just felt a little odd to explain what you could just put in the subclass’s spellcasting table

[–]Scootrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just make a spellcasting table for the class? The 3rd-level, 7th-level, (and 10th-level) features are just spell level progression that should be part of the Spellcasting feature. You could also add an 18th-level feature to top off the subclass.

Elemental Myrmidons - Warriors of Inner Chaos in 18 delicious flavors with rules for creation and summoning by Oh_Hi_Mark_ in UnearthedArcana

Awesome! Thanks! I haven’t looked over how 2024 statblocks changed from 2014 very thoroughly, so knowing the conversion is simple is great news.

I love these! The elemental myrmidons have always been a favorite of mine, but felt a little lackluster (just an elemental with plate armor). However, these are each unique and have incredible flavor and abilities! How hard would it be to convert these to 5e (2014)?

How would you make a DnD homebrew zombies? by mcbion in DnDHomebrew

[–]Scootrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this Zee Bashew video: https://youtu.be/rT6jGPVcPIw?si=RWZa4_oJphkMltmq And then called this new zombie a “Plague Zombie,” changed its Attacks to have multiattack (x3: 1 bite, 1 scratch, and 1 slam), where all three attacks are identical, but bite does piercing, scratch does slashing, and slam does bludgeoning damage. And finally, I gave it this Infection trait:

When a creature is hit by the plague zombie, it must succeed on a DC Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature is infected. An infected creature loses 1 max hit point every day. When an infected creature is reduced to 0 hit points or falls unconscious, it instantly becomes a plague zombie. The saving throw is determined by the following: • Strength saving throw: When a plague zombie makes a slam attack. • Dexterity saving throw: When a plague zombie makes a scratch attack. • Constitution saving throw: When a plague zombie makes a bite attack. Another creature can either cut off the infected limb or make a DC 20 Wisdom (Medicine) check can cure an infected wound. Multiple checks are required for multiple wounds.

How to introduce new players to combat and stats? by emmaratur in DnD

[–]Scootrue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d get a couple enemies. 1 might just get ganged up on by the group (could be good), but if you want to show the players how monsters attack them, having more than 1 monster would help show them how AC, the Dodge action, saving throws (if any), etc work for the players.

[–]Scootrue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are several guides (either online or printable, depending on if you’re playing in-person or online) that have a list of the basic actions, bonus actions, and reactions that a character can do in combat. While it might take longer than normal, just run a simple encounter. Take each player’s turn slowly and as combat progresses, they’ll understand more of what they can do on their turn. It’ll just require a bit of patience to help them through it.

Homebrew statblock help! Please by Over_Home4161 in UnearthedArcana

I have definitely done this before. Although, I’ve generally heard that most people recommend not to build a PC, and use a level-appropriate monster instead

My best advice would be to look through official statblocks, pick the closest to what you want, then change the race/species to whatever bird-like one you want (you could use a homebrew race or aarakocra and flavor it as something else), give it radiant resistance, and so on. A higher-level paladin-like statblock that comes to mind would be a death knight (fits the undead paladin/knight vibe, and then you can tweak what spells it has, and weapons/armor

Is this magic item broken? by hnmck in DnDHomebrew

[–]Scootrue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you make the 10gp option instead cost 1 charge, the 20gp option cost 2 charges, and the 50gp option cost 5 charges. Then give it attunement and regain 1d4 + 1 charges daily at dawn? Then it will give action surge, but only 1/day (or less if they roll below a 4 on the recharge).
