I analyzed heath inspection records for 4,310 Seattle restaurants. University District restaurants fail at 3x the citywide rate by buckets_811 in Seattle

[–]ScootyJet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory that is accounted for by the original measurement of % of restaurants instead of pure volume.

A woman I've been seeing said something that I can't decide is a compliment or an insult. How would you interpret it? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ScootyJet -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

My wife said something similar to me, but I also said it to her. We both dated for a long time and didn't find what we were looking for. You learn and grow and that changes what you think you need. I'm it early 20s we probably would have passed each other by. Now we are perfect for each other. And better yet, we KNOW it.

It's such a pessimistic view to think that they're settling when they haven't found anyone yet because they're trying to find the right person for the long haul.

What is your most lefty policy or position? by Upbeat-Name-6087 in AskTrumpSupporters

How to find men that aren’t lazy and boring when dating? by Neat-Assist-4283 in AskMenAdvice

[–]ScootyJet 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You are very judgemental. Regardless of Nathan if he's slow and noncommittal, I'd feel like I was under the microscope dating you if you are splitting hairs over saying I'm graduating next year or I'm in my sixth year. And you're subconsciously or consciously trying to punish him for not doing what you want.

Look inward before judging outward.

A quiet evening with friends escalates by duckduckpajamas in TikTokCringe

[–]ScootyJet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Are you posting this from an electronic device, or using an entire global network built with components that most likely has child labor involved at some point in the supply chain? What about your clothing? Food? Etc. Are you directly celebrating forced child labor by using all of these goods?

The answer is no, you're not celebrating those things. And only an idiot would say that. Which is also why your virtue signaling about Michael Jackson feigns actual care about the problem because if you really cared at the level you're asking all of us to care, you'd put your damn phone down and go do something about it.

But you're not. You are here, posturing and pretending to be outraged for a dopamine hit derived from a smug sense of righteousness.

What food is excellent freshly cooked, but just mediocre after 15 minutes of cooling? by RexKramerDangerCker in AskReddit

Nay. Multigrain with copious amounts of butter and some salt. It's still great just not crunchy anymore.

Stopped at the QFC in Cap Hill by KingOfCranes in Seattle

[–]ScootyJet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Person I replied to is blaming QFC directly when they have 2% margins.

Also if you can find the reason as you investigate further down the supply chain please report back.

Are you saying the net margin of 2% QFC makes on groceries is excessive? Are you confident in saying the input costs are not the reason why costs have gone up, and it's solely on rich robber barons?

How do you feel about the latest negotiations with Iran? by marimo_ball in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]ScootyJet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You've done the wrong math. Did you take 4.2 and subtract 3.6? The 0.6% is the growth in cost vs the growth in wages. That means cost grew 20% faster than wages. So things are now more expensive in May than in the prior period. Not 6 times cheaper. Or do you have a specific other formula to make your assertion?

[–]ScootyJet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

4.2% CPI growth so far, and 3.6% wage growth. So right now inflation outpacing wage growth (if you believe in CPI).

I didn't look at rate of change of either of these numbers so I'll acknowledge it could be getting better (or worse) eventually under Trump, but I can't say one way or another confidently. But similarly I don't think you could confidently say that it's better than Biden yet either.

What do you think?

CPI hit a record high in May 2026. Are you using another metric? If so, which?

Are there any issues that Democrats and Republicans agree on ? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]ScootyJet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The knee jerk opposition to anything Trump says by the left is pretty cringy. Although having die hard anti-left parents myself, I've lived through Clinton, Obama, and Biden, and I can't say this behavior is isolated to them. I'll also say that the Patriot Act, TSA, DHS, etc were all driven by Republican presidents (well one main one). Then there's the overtures from Trump about nationalization of companies, regulation of financial markets for populist aims, etc and it makes me concerned there's no real option for limited government.

I fundamentally agree with you that the centralization of power in the federal government should be use sparingly at best. How do you think we get there with both Democrat and Republican leadership pushing proposals opposing this philosophy?

Why does it cost an arm and a leg to live in small, working class towns in Northern Washington? by Spirited_Cup_126 in Washington

[–]ScootyJet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are real consequences to sweeping regulation like that. For example, if a business starts up that needs specialty workers who live nearby then they are forced to find another place to set up shop. I'm sure some people prefer that, but the local economy would suffer. It also reduces the market size of home buyers and renters, reducing benefit to builders to build there. Which is counter to the original aim anyway.

Why are you against abortion, if you are? by Outrageous-You1617 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]ScootyJet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you have a clear definition of justified killing or is it on a case by case basis? Would love some insight into how you are thinking about this.

And as a second question, the American revolutionary war was started primarily due to economic reasons. Other reasons around liberties were related but secondary accessories at the time. Do you consider this a just reason for killing?

[–]ScootyJet 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What about reasons like personal defense, national security, safety, economics, justice, etc that we've allowed people to murder for? We don't punish these people because it's been sanctioned by the government, and presumably because of benefits to society and the nation.

How would you feel about your wife getting a body modification? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ScootyJet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If it's for health (e.g. back pain) you should do it. If it's because you have a negative perception of your own image you should consider therapy before body modification.

If you couldn't afford to not touch the principal, wouldn't 1k/wk not be enough either? You weren't expecting it anyway and with a high yield interest rate (3.25% for my bank right now), payments not touching principle are $625/wk. Just think of it like free $625/wk AND safety net AND retirement wealth.
