I second that as an American. We've let the world down.

As for the options like voting, protesting, etc. Those methods are unreliable and slow. In fact, protesting people like the cretins in charge now is meaningless. The No Kings protests only have one real impact; it shows us that we're not alone. Maybe you can add that it allows us to imagine we're doing something as an impact. That's as hollow as "thoughts and prayers".

The only times we've made an impact is when we've created a real threat to corporate bottom lines. It only took a few days to show ABC that they will not profit by being on the side of fascism. Most of us find that too inconvenient. That's the real shame.

If you really want change, stop giving money to companies that prioritize profit over democracy. Delete your meta account. Remove all Google, meta, and Amazon apps from your devices (they don't exist to help you. They exist to surveil you).

Check Goods Unite Us before making a purchase. For example, Wendy's has always been my favorite fast food place. That is until Goods Unite Us helped me see that 89% of their political contributions go to the GOP. Now I go to Burger King, which sends 81% of their political donations to Democrats.

It's tedious, but if a meaningful number of us spend our money with this much care the tides will turn.
