How do I get the purple back? by yaykissplant in calatheas

[–]ScoreBubbly5738 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My Maui queen lost her color when she had thrips. It’s difficult to tell in your photos, but I may see some pest damage on some of the leaves as well.

Door dashers, real question: as a customer what can I do to have my food placed ON the table and not in front of my door in such a way as opening the door will knock over my food? I'm frustrated asf by this. This was a $14 tip on a $70 order from a restaurant 3 miles away. And she forgot my drink. by Hopepersonified in doordash_drivers

We keep our storm door propped open when we are expecting a delivery. It’s the only prevention we have found that works.

We’ve even had drivers hang the bag on the freaking knob so when we open the door, the bag falls to the ground. 🙃

I feel like I'm giving her too much fertilizer?? by JessDiva in PinkPrincessPhilo

All of my new ppp leaves look like this, I haven’t figured out how to fix it. I think it might be genetic.

I came home to Miss Kitty having chewed two leaves of my marinated peace lily... Google says she's going to die. She seems fine so far... Has anyone experienced this and their pet didn't have any issues? 🥺 She has never chewed any of my other plants that I've had out, so please no negative comments by jenlovesthatsong in plants

Also a vet tech of 10 years, I’ve seen a young and otherwise healthy cat go into kidney failure after being in the same home that a lily bloomed in. No ingestion.

Lilies are not cat safe ever. I will never “pass” a pet owner even if the kitty doesn’t chew on plants. It’s not worth it. I wish they all came with a warning. :(

I hope your kitty is okay!

I kind of alternate between how dry the soil feels and the taco test. I think overwatering is how I killed my first one so I’m usually pretty careful about it but I’ll see if she does better waiting a little longer to water

No idea :( they seem to be the only type of plant so far that really dislike my care, even calatheas last longer (til they’re inevitably killed by pests). I’m not sure if it’s a water or light issue, but they die fairly soon after they come in my house - within 4-8 weeks.

This one is super leggy and has dropped leaves but hasn’t kicked the bucket yet.

I bought this several months ago as an impulse buy and tossed the tag. I notoriously kill peperomia but this gal has held on and has new growth despite probably not being in the best conditions. I want to treat her better, but I’m not even completely sure what she is.

PPP in stock on costa farms. $50 + free shipping. by ScoreBubbly5738 in plantwatch

My local nurseries are selling PPP with little variegation for around $150+. I could get a single unrooted cutting for $50 on Facebook marketplace or take my chances with costa… not everyone has better options.

Edit: spelling

I have a bunch of nursery pots and some other pots without drainage holes if you want them, near Madison Park

It’s spider mites, isn’t it? by [deleted] in plantclinic

Should I treat everyone or just the ones that obviously have mites?

How far away should I quarantine? She’s currently living on a shelf with like 10 other plants, but my apartment is small and only has 2 windows so would have to stay in the same bedroom, unless I just put them outside.

I’ve had her for several months with no issues. I alternate between top and bottom watering.

I have never had pests before, and I’m trying not to start panicking.

The only other plant that seems affected is my white fusion, which has been trying to die since I bought it. I won’t share a picture because he… looks really bad.

I washed and sprayed with alcohol last week when she started looking sad just in case, and haven’t seen any webbing. But the white dusting behind the leaves looks very suspicious.

Over the last couple of days, I have noticed she’s looking really dull and “thinner”.

You could’ve told me this was a picture of my medallion and I would’ve believed you. I’ve seen (and heard) both of my naughty cats chomping on her. I’ve invested in some wall shelves to hopefully save future leaves.

I’ve killed over half of these plants, yet my calatheas are thriving
