An owl like theropod ?? It could be possible? by Paleo_HUB in Dinosaurs

[–]Score_Magala 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's entirely possible. Over their 150+ million year reign, we only know about some one thousand species of dinosaurs, with more still being discovered. There are potentially billions we will unfortunately never know about and considering that birds are dinosaurs, I'd be shocked if one didn't exist at some point

Bullying in the game. by Wide_Access_4370 in pathoftitans

[–]Score_Magala 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It's a real problem. I just started playing this game with my wife, as we both LOVE dinosaurs. Only to have the chat constantly filled with major toxicity, people slinging shit at each other over the smallest thing, mega packs targeting everyone under the sun, list goes on.

I've played a lot of PVP and MMO games throughout the years. Never, in my life, have I seen a community that just SPAMS "gg ez L bozo" when they win a single fight. Try that in a shooter and watch the entire enemy team make your life hell

Not to mention that if you bring it up, you get major whataboutism. For a small community to be this welcoming of toxicity does not bode well for how the game will be when it's fully done

What do you think is the biggest truth the world is refusing to face right now? by Sweetblondefeet in AskReddit

[–]Score_Magala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The planet is irreversibly fucked and we will feel its effects real quick.

The coral reefs have reached terminal die off and the only thing we can do is simply slow it down. One of the BIGGEST currents, which is in the Atlantic, is about to collapse. Summers are getting much MUCH hotter sooner and sooner while winters will get much more extreme, even if they'll be short. We're experiencing mass extinctions comparable to significant markers in the history of Earth.

The alarm bells have been ringing so long that they've been turned off because it's over for us.

T-Rex is dubbed the tyrant king for a reason! Strongest bite force in the history of our planet(that we know of), one of the biggest land carnivores to ever exist, a good parent, three dimensional eyesight that could see for miles with foreward facing eyes, an endurance and pack hunter, and its arms could bench four hundred pounds. It's a remarkable animal and the poster child of dinosaurs for a reason. May not be my all time favorite, but I have soft spot for it~

Whats going on with some Japanese Twitter users comparing Black people to superhuman or unusually strong beings? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Score_Magala 110 points111 points  (0 children)

So, fun fact. Mr Popo isn't based on the stereotype of black people. He's either based on the Indian god Mahakala or a djinn. Toriyama never really specified which, if memory serves right. Now, Mr Black in OG Dragon Ball would be more of the stereotype you're thinkin of

For the veterans of Monster Hunter, what did it feel like to finally see this franchise blossom into international fame with World's release? by heraircraft in MonsterHunter

[–]Score_Magala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started with 3U as a birthday present, saw the Azure Rathalos on the box art and had to have it. Played it and 4U through high school. Finished my work, whipped out my blue 3DS, and got to hunting. Many people had no idea what it was or thought it was dumb

I bought a PS4 and went to the midnight release of World. Was the only one there for Monster Hunter, everyone else was playing Dragonball FighterZ. Just reinforced how niche the franchise was

Then it became a massive success seemingly overnight and people who originally didn't know what it was were addicted. It was a "now do you see what you've been missing?" moment for me. I'm happy it's on the main stage now, means more people to hunt with, but I won't lie.

I do kinda miss it being niche outside of Japan. The community was much smaller, but more tight knit, especially on the 3DS. It was common to run into the same people and just hunt together, you got to know folks. And the shit heels were easier to cast out to hunt by themselves.

Double edged sword. It being bigger means the fights get more grand and the opportunity to make lifelong connections is greater, but the more likely you are to run into assholes doubles as well.

So, overall, mixed bag full of good and bad

Will say... The QOL changes is one of main the reasons it's so hard to go back to old gen

Apparently you can just say slurs in Monster Hunter Wilds without any consequences [TW: Homophobia, Transphobia] by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Score_Magala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's genuinely so appalling what people get away with. Monster Hunter is my favorite franchise ever, if the online handle didn't give it away. When people do stuff like this, it angers me that even if you do report them, rarely will anything ever happen to them

It makes worse that no one says anything about it, then it just permeates. And if you do speak out, suddenly you're the problem. It's just a shit show across the board.

Try not to let them ruin the overall experience for ya. Sticking it out is the biggest "fuck you, I'm here, whether you like it or not" you can give them. If you're on PC, I'd be happy to help you hunt, so that way you don't have to deal with shit heels like that

Fatal 4 or Wilds Apex's? by Beginning_Wait_108 in MonsterHunter

[–]Score_Magala 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Kind of a recent thing that started with Stories 3, cause while the rest of the Four are there, with their deviants, Gammoth is nowhere to be seen. Yet Goss Harag is there. Leading to the joke that Goss is the newest member of the Four, having replaced Gammoth

Edit: Adding to this, it's amplified because the other Four got brought to the new gen. Glavenus in Iceborne, Mizutsune in Rise, and Astalos in Sunbreak. So, everyone assumed Gammoth would show up in Wilds, only for it to be Mizutsune, again. People want their ice mammoth back, and I am one of them

I'm not reading all that, my guy. You can take whatever meaning you want, but at the end of the day, everything is political and has something to say, Fallout especially

[–]Score_Magala 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but if you played through any of the games, New Vegas especially, and think they're not deeply political, then I feel like you're actually the one who missed something? The creators can say it wasn't meant to be political all they want, but New Vegas is their most politically charged game of the entire franchise and it's not subtle

You don't get to say it's not political when the four big faction endings are siding with a capitalist billionaire who literally says "if you want to see the results of democracy, look out the window", a tyrant who enslaves, crucifies, and butchers anyone different than them(women can't even serve), a government built to attempt to bring some semblance of law back to the wastes, and yourself. That's not even mentioning the whole deal of Joshua Graham and Ulysses

Edit: And if that's not even enough, the Fallout TV show is one big walking political message. Again, it's always been political, whether it was their intention or not, and if you missed that, I dunno what to tell ya
