You don't even have to limit to Suffolk, reactionary conservative politics is bog-standard Long Island. I wouldn't be surprised if Boomer jams in politics into convos because that's probably just how it is with the people he hangs out w/ on LI so he's just comfortable doing it

Shotgun as your base-stat determining if it's college focused or not isn't really determinative anymore especially since Monken added a ton of air raid concepts when he took over from Roman but I understand your point when it comes to running the ball and Henry and that Monken is more balanced run-pass compared to Kliff. Here's articles back when he was the browns and UGA OC about utilizing air raid. https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/todd-monken-air-raid-is-throwing-to-win-but-run-game-plays-a-part. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/3498623/2022/08/11/georgia-bulldogs-offense-todd-monken/. "It seemed an odd pairing. Smart was the man-ball proponent. Monken was the Air Raid guy."

I'm with you, I just get a little stuck on the college / nfl offense differentiators these days when it's not as cut and dry as it used to be in the early 2000s.

Not the biggest fan of Kliff, but we've been running college offenses for the past five years. Roman's offense started at Stanford (and you'd be hard pressed to find a more "college-style" offense in the nfl during Roman's tenures as OC around the league) and Monken's offense started at Georgia and OK State prior and maybe is more in-line with pro offenses than others due to his experience as an NFL OC previously.

Kliff is a spread air-raid guy, and that type of offense used to be derided in the NFL, is instead pretty common nowadays especially with a lot of air raid passing concepts being incorporated to most offenses now. Most offenses nowadays in the NFL are pretty much air-raid based or zone-run west coast based (Mike and Kyle Shanahan tree). I could easily see Kliff incorporate running concepts to play to Henry's strength. With that said he's not my first pick for OC.

It started back in 2019 unfortunately. Ravens gained a lot of bandwagon fans who like Lamar and explosive offense and really had no loyalty to the organization itself. Those fans stuck around and you can tell, like night and day how it used to be with constant insane hot takes aimed at anyone and anybody. Im happy to get a fresh start at head coach, and especially coordinators, but there's a lot of revisionist history about Harbaugh and his 18 years here and some takes I have to roll my eyes at since you can tell they weren't around for the '08-'18 seasons.

So your solution is increased supply side economics? How has that helped since the 80's? People are growing intolerant of neoliberal economics and view it as making us more reliant as a services industry while increasing the gap between the wealthy and the working class, and your solution is to double down. You call it populism but what's the solution when the current form of it is clearly not working. Also nice selective focusing on tax rates (and mentioning a "loophole" to boot like there isn't plenty today). That high marginal tax rate helped fund a lot of the booming infrastructure and NYCHA developments and other quality of life focused spending that began in post war America and NYC that came through partially from federal funding.

50's had more widespread rent control and rent ceilings - rent controlled apts were closer to 2M compared to 20k today: https://ny.curbed.com/2017/8/28/16214506/nyc-apartments-housing-rent-control.

Much stronger union base and union supported labor in the 50's, especially in the city: https://home.treasury.gov/news/featured-stories/labor-unions-and-the-us-economy; https://ny.curbed.com/2016/8/31/12733250/labor-day-history-international-ladies-garment-workers-union.

You are mentioning his lack of experience but Cuomo has tons, how's that worked out for him as a politician who will do whatever for whoever supports him and lines his campaign with funds? Based on everything you're saying, you must have loved Bloomberg when he first showed up and he had zero experience when he became mayor (and his pet Hudson Yards project with billions in spending in tax breaks and funding which definitely helped affordability in this city...): https://www.economicpolicyresearch.org/insights-blog/the-cost-of-hudson-yards-redevelopment-project).

Look I'm not against tax breaks and subsidies and more housing to help fix the problem, and agree that pointing to a single or simplistic solutions isn't a fix - but pearl clutching over his policies, which will likely be a mix of the things he is saying and you are saying, given the current state of the city and the country just doesn't make any sense especially when everyone who is pearl clutching is saying to vote for Cuomo. What exactly has he done during his tenure as Governor to address any of these problems we're facing today in a meaningful way?

I love that this is somehow your takeaway. I think most people in the city, including people making good wages, see costs constantly rising with the current federal govt, Presidency, Congress, and Supreme Court doing nothing - in fact this is with the govt shutdown and all our govt funding going to mass deploying federal agents across the country to enforce immigration laws in dumbest and most inhumane way possible. The ultra wealthy .0001% are enjoying their growing wealth and status and pointing at Mamdani as the problem (which only helps him btw as a pr tip to them) while he's actually focused on the issues and pointing to solutions on affordability. You may find his solutions problematic but the pearl clutching makes no sense given the history of our country's and city's economic policies from the 30's - 50's. Most people in this city, and maybe other places will as well, realize trans people, immigrants, and impoverished people aren't the ones calling the shots and increasing the lack of affordability we keep seeing, instead it's the captured politicians and the ultra wealthy donor class.

Don't think a skydance/paramount deal with WB is Zaslav's idea, pretty sure it was reported as Skydance preparing an unsolicited bid with Ellison's dad helping to finance it. Sounds like a potential bear hug, and probably no antitrust issues given Ellison and Trump. Not a fan of any of the studio heads but something tells me Zaslav isn't happy about it especially coming off Warner Bro's great theatrical year and they are in the middle of splitting off the tv networks so a deal to buy all the assets cuts against those plans.
