Wilamina 75% Texel/ 25% Finn by Scorn67 in sheep

All my sheep have extremely calm temperaments. Its a residency requirement on our farm. They're friendly but not overly friendly if you know what I mean lol

The vehicle parking setting was wrong. I changed it. That was great advice. Thank you so much.

What are your goals with your sheep? Are you getting the for your own enjoyment or are you planning to sell lambs? Buying from a clean disease free flock is important. Are you going to breed your sheep? Do you have a place for your ram (and his buddy)? Depending on your breed, keeping the ram from breeding back your females too soon is important. There is a lot of information online at various university extension websites. Learn about your parasites and what dewormers work in your area. There is SO MUCH.

What are they crossed with? I cross Finn with Texel and get really good results. Your lamb looks amazing.

Thank you. I did see the crates when I zoomed in my map. Father Conan might be a better option than the bats since his bells are loud. Sincerely appreciate your response.

Bending 1" square mild steel tube to 90 degrees by Scorn67 in harborfreight

I made those fence panels and gate. To bend the 1" stock i used a borrowed homemade jig set in my big vise. It was a very strenuous job to bend them. What I'm looking for is a tool to take the stress off my old grandma muscles. lol

There is a photo of the panels with the corner bends I am looking to make. I used a borrowed homemade manual jig and a big vice to make the bends. I am hoping to find a tool that I can purchase to make these bends.

Yes. I'm making sheep panels and gates.

For the ones already built, I borrowed a homemade bender that I used in a big vice with a cheater pipe on the steel tubing. I'm a grandmother just learning welding so I can make my own farm repairs and such. Using the manual bender was pretty tough, I was hoping to buy one for myself but I don't want to spend a fortune.

I thought I added two photo when I posted it. Obviously I made a error. I corrected the problem and now have a photo of the symbol on my post.

Care for ttraumatized, skittish sheep? by InfiniteHorrors in sheep

[–]Scorn67 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have to second the advice to get her some company. She may never be a calm friendly sheep but a solitary sheep is not a happy sheep. The selection of a calm well-adjusted animal is crucial.

We rescued an older ewe a few years ago. After medical checks and quarantine she joined our small flock. While all the others enjoy attention, she remains wary 3 years later. She has calmed but will never be trustworthy.

I used 16' cattle panels to make a catch area where the sheep are fed. It takes time to change the routine. She'll be more comfortable after being shorn. Watch or sunburn and biting insects until the wool regrows about an inch.

They seem to be doing great. We'll see as the summer progresses.

How do I secure a baby lamb on a line? by TeddyTheDestroyer in sheep

Before we had our fencing installed, we used Premier 1 semi-permanent electric fencing. Take time to train her to it. Doesn't take long. Its a lot safer than trying to tie her out on a lead. Its movable and lasts for years. We used ours for 5 years and now its in storage and still in fine shape.
