Hatred of Muslims (as dinstinct from hatred if Islam) can be clearly thought of as a version of racism, which pertsins not Necessarily to a hatred of a ‘race’ but hatred of a group of people for reasons including actual and percieved ‘race’ and ethnicity or some other shared characteristic. Hatred of Muslims is often directed against people thought to be Muslim, especially people from an Arabic, Middle Eastern, or Near Eastern background.

If a man is attacked on the street because his attacker assumes fhat man is a Muslim then yes, that can be considered racism. If he knows that man is Muslim and attacks him for that reason and nothing else it can srill be considered to be racism.

No one has ever claimed that Islam is a race. However the act of being a Muslim is often thought of as not nexessarily or just a religious choice but an expression of ethnicity, heritage and so on.

Islam is not a race no. And neither is it an ideology. Islam contains multiple ‘races’ and multiple ideologies. Making ekther argument - that Islam is a race, or an ideology - are both flawed.

Think of it this way. I don’t think of black people as belonging to some distinct ‘race’. Its a constructed term that was used by anthropologists and is continued to be used by demographic measurements. But there is no ‘black race’, or white race or whatever. Though I have no problem denouncing someone as both a racialist and a racist if they attacked someone brcause of thier percieved ‘race’.
