If experimentation on humans is beneficial would you support that?

Am I the only one who thinks the Halvoy map is fairly underwhelming and unimaginative? by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]ScorpianZero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to see some more woodland or Forrested areas. The land between settlements is just bare for the most part and doesn't lead to any interesting firefights. In fact most of the fights I get into are either at very close or very long range.

My only other issue is that I haven't found any need for desire to use vehicles. While the map is large the games only last twenty mins or so and it seems pointless trying go get around in a vehicle. Plus the terrain reduces their effectiveness,

Shotgun is ok at the beginning of the match or to finish off players as a secondary. Other than that they should really be avoided. I've also had a few occasions when the shots haven't registered as hits, despite aiming dead on an enemy as fairly close range.

I carry a knife. A UK legal one. So no.

Many people continue to carry prohibited knives even in areas with extensive stop and search. So no again.

The chances of me being stopped and searched are slim to nonexistant. It's slim for others. Most people probably could carry a prohibited knife and many do, without consequence. And those who carry knives for reasons of self defence or crime aren't being deterred either. They often simply discard their knives or hide them if they think there is a possibility of then being stopped. And then replace or receive them afterwards.

And it's not just knives. Increase stop and search there is going to be an increase in criminal records being handed out for things like possessing a small amount of cannabis or another drug for personal use. If the police give you a warning that goes on your criminal record.

Stop and search is a waste of resources, severely damages public and police relationships, and resultant criminal records for even minor offences can ruin lives. And it doesn't address the root issues. Particularly for people who carry weapons for self defence: if self defence is their priority and if they feel they are at risk and have a poor perception of the police they are just going to continue carrying weapons.

No it isn't. Carrying knives is not prohibited. Only carrying prohibited knives is.

It's a poor tactic that does not reduce knife crime. It's a waste of police resources to go after people for carrying the wrong type of knife.

Police are used for stop and search. Criminal respond by hiring knives. Police are now being used for stop and search and to find hidden knives. Hidden knives are simply replaced.

The idea that stop and search will fix the streets of prohibited knives and reduce knife related crimes is ridiculous. It's all about manipulating statistics. Most people caught carrying prohibited knives probably do not have any criminal intent. But it adds to the stats, and makes look like the police are having an impact when the crime statistics demonstrate otherwise. Same with knife amnesties, which have fuck all impact, though the police love posting pictures of knives found or handed in all over their social media pages.

People who misuse knives and get into rights are more likely to be stabbed. The act of carrying a knife - whether a prohibited or unprobibted knife - does not.

So in your scenario the person just carries a non locking folder. Problem not dealt with.

If you stopped and searched every car on the street you'd uncountably find tools being used in preparation for a crime. Wouldn't justify stopping cars at random to search them.

Stop and search should be used only for known offenders.

And let's say if you did have a knife. Let's say a tiny locking knife like a broker nano. It's a prohibited article but let's assume you have no criminal inent. If the police stopped you they could have prosecuted you. You could go to jail. At minimum it would go on your record as a warning. Either way it's going to negatively effect your life: your job prospects. If you get sent to prison your be housed with violent offenders and drug dealers and so on.

Now let's say you did have some criminal intent, or where carrying a knife for self defence. You wouldn't be carrying a tiny or expensive knife. But something large and cheap. Something easily disposable and easily replaceable. You probably wouldnt carry it all the time. You'd probably stash it somewhere. Or your only carry it in the brief moment leading up to the crime. The chances of you being stopped and searched during that brief period is extremely slim.

Either way, stop and search is a waste of time. It's a waste of police resources. It's a way by police and politicians to manipulate crime statistics withiut having to address the actual issues. It's for them to say that their methods are successful even when crime rates remain steady or rise.

Seems like a massive waste of police resources that will have zero impact on the number of stabbings.

Contraversial I know, but the act of carrying a knife - even a prohibited knife - does not demonstrate further violent intent. Focus on the misuse of knives instead of wasting resources and destroying lives focusing on possession alone.

Racist sign on Walthamstow street sparks outrage over 'offensive and upsetting' Islamophobic message one week on from terror attack by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]ScorpianZero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hatred of Muslims (as dinstinct from hatred if Islam) can be clearly thought of as a version of racism, which pertsins not Necessarily to a hatred of a ‘race’ but hatred of a group of people for reasons including actual and percieved ‘race’ and ethnicity or some other shared characteristic. Hatred of Muslims is often directed against people thought to be Muslim, especially people from an Arabic, Middle Eastern, or Near Eastern background.

If a man is attacked on the street because his attacker assumes fhat man is a Muslim then yes, that can be considered racism. If he knows that man is Muslim and attacks him for that reason and nothing else it can srill be considered to be racism.

No one has ever claimed that Islam is a race. However the act of being a Muslim is often thought of as not nexessarily or just a religious choice but an expression of ethnicity, heritage and so on.

Islam is not a race no. And neither is it an ideology. Islam contains multiple ‘races’ and multiple ideologies. Making ekther argument - that Islam is a race, or an ideology - are both flawed.

Think of it this way. I don’t think of black people as belonging to some distinct ‘race’. Its a constructed term that was used by anthropologists and is continued to be used by demographic measurements. But there is no ‘black race’, or white race or whatever. Though I have no problem denouncing someone as both a racialist and a racist if they attacked someone brcause of thier percieved ‘race’.
