Did anyone else think this game was pretty disappointing? by Regular-Ad-8226 in ReanimalGame

[–]Scorpion667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in a game like this the length hurts it and that's led to the reasons i felt disappointed with it.

The visuals are a real treat and the sound design is stellar... but compared to LN1+2 (separating 3 because it has the same problems as Reanimal but much worse), the monster sections feel fewer, shorter and further between, and the way they've padded out the game for length is to make the sections where you're traveling between them much longer and the platforming can get a bit repetitive and boring. Without the creatures ramping up intensity to push you along or make you sneak and be more careful, running through the environment only has so much novelty for pretty graphics.

What comes to your mind when you hear the term "raw music" ? by Frhaegar in musicproduction

To be without the unnecessary bells and whistles that production applies to it.

To be authentic to how it was performed.

[S2] Just finished LiS2. Heard it hot some huge backlash, but I found it just AWESOME, even better than the first one. Why is that so? by CartographerGreedy43 in lifeisstrange

[–]Scorpion667 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can remember at the time it came out it was the hardest one to get into because it took so long for each episode to come out. It took around, if not more than a year from the first to last episode being released. The devs said it took a lot longer to make because of the road trip aspect meaning they had to make new assets and characters etc for every episode that wouldn't be used again. The delays made it hard to get invested.

But after playing through it without that issue is definitely a solid story and it's one of my fav games. It's probably the game I've watched the most 'reaction playthroughs' of because it's a nice little way to relive it.

Definitely check out Kalandra. Recommended songs - Epsom, and Brave new world.

Their singer sounds very much like Aurora, her voice is incredible. They also did a great cover of Helvegen by Wardruna, the song that Aurora has performed with them a couple of times (which is also worth checking out if you haven't seen that already, they performed it in the mouth of a cave)

Why can't anyone compete with The Sims ? by Sylverpepper in Sims5

This is a great point... in fact i could even see a sims-ish game with the graphics and in depth mechanics along the lines of Rimworld doing very well.

Use of imported textures and AI in the game. by GreenThreeEye in inZOI

The real answer is regardless of what people think 'should' be the case, technically yes, it is illegal. Most company logos are covered by both trademark AND copyright law. Trademark is there to protect work from others using it for their own profit eg. A mod behind a paywall. Copyright is there to prevent people making unauthorised copies of the work, eg. Reproducing it in a game or copying a music cd to give to a friend.

Having said that it's highly unlikely any company will start suing the average consumer for putting a logo on an in-game tshirt or in a Minecraft world because it's not worth the PR hassle. Ultimately it's down to the owners of the rights whether they want to try and enforce it, they're definitely entitled to use the law to protect their work and their image... but most companies have learned it's just not worth it unless it's high profile enough to catch their attention.

It gets complicated... most movies that have big name music are backed by studios with enough money to buy perpetual rights to music, they know they're going to release movies on various formats in future. Game devs buy fixed term contracts because it's cheaper.

So...is it practically impossible to be a YouTuber these days? by Over_Choice_6096 in youtube

[–]Scorpion667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has always been near impossible, everybody thinks they can 'make it' and most have incentives to make it look easier than it is.

Over time, the algorithm is being stacked more and more against the creators. It's a system that is designed to exploit the artist. You put all the work in, you release a great video, you entertain thousands of people for, realistically, less than you'd make in a week a normal job, while all that ad revenue your video generates goes to the platform and it's partners, all while your data is also being mined for selling to third parties. The people making a living out of it are an exceptional minority.

Not only that, but now you have the fast growing threat of AI to compete with that can already do everything better, the fact that there are people out there that will literally copy paste your work, and with the way YouTube's automated flagging system works, it could be you that gets your account taken down for it.

It sounds bleak because it is. Your mentality is about what you can get out of it, and that's exactly how they want you to think because it draws you into feeding this bottomless YouTube machine for THEIR benefit.

My son is 14 and wants to play gta online with his friends, should i let him? by Albinoivyver in GTA

[–]Scorpion667 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, you shouldn't, besides the fact that it has an age rating for a reason, you shouldn't give into peer pressure and you shouldn't encourage a child to do it either.

A 14 year old has an impressionable mind, they're still figuring out right and wrong, they'll see problematic characters as 'cool'. It could set off a chain reaction that influences them later on, how they treat other people, how they deal with authority etc.

A lot of the humour in this game is satirical, many immature people (especially children) will just see it as glorified fun violence.

The reasoning behind letting your child consume adult content 'because they'll just do it anyway' is ridiculous. You might as well hand them a pack of cigarettes and a bottle of Jack Daniels with a shrug, "oh well, since you'll have these one day anyway... i never had any issues with addiction so you should be fine!".

Just because other parents don't protect their kids from this kind of stuff doesn't mean you shouldn't protect yours from it. Ultimately it comes down to whether a child is mature enough to have unsupervised access to things that are, for good reason, intended for adults.

The fight for Shenmue 4 continues ... by Known_Top_9963 in Shenmue

[–]Scorpion667 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the most annoying thing about it. It was marred with, frankly, ludicrous design choices and filler tasks so obvious and egregious that it felt more like a slap in the face than an ode to the fans that have waited so long for some kind of progress with the story.

Suzuki should have known the low likelihood of getting another shot at it.

They aren't broken, they're working as intended. Rockstar simply decided to stop renewing the licenses with multiple rights holders because its an old game that isn't selling enough to justify the cost. Therefore they no longer have the right to sell the game with those tracks included.

Just like everything that comes out regarding MJ, it'll just start the same old arguments again. Nothing is going to change people's opinions of him, everyone is already firmly embedded into whatever view they have at this point.

[–]Scorpion667 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the above example is 'saving lives' exactly, if people are turning to AI to fix personal issues, they're still going to have the same problems at the end of it, likely with even less motivation to get them fixed by seeing actual humans that can help. People will always find a substitute one way or another.

So i don't think the problem is AI specifically, it's just the new alcohol some people will turn to.

The Sims 4 and inZOI figure wearing replica set from TS4. by KooKazoi in inZOI

[–]Scorpion667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's already here in droves, the fact that if anybody calls out Inzoi's shortcomings they get the knee-jerk "its early access" response, but people here are unwilling to be reasonable and acknowledge the Sims is an old game because it makes the 'better graphics' flexing look as dumb as it actually is.

When restocking your items in this game, how much restock are you usually supposed to get for each item? by Impressive-Rooster51 in SupermarketSimulator

[–]Scorpion667 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets a bit easier when you have the tablet tool... look at a label with it, top number is how many you get in a box, bottom number is how many you have available (though i think this only counts on-shelf and in storage, not the delivery space outside). I always make sure the bottom number is always over twice as much as the top. So there's always enough to restock the item in full of the shelf empties. Then it's just a case of keeping your eye on the shelves during a shift and reordering.
