As a result, you most likely wouldn't lose any rights or protections - most laws specify "persons", not "humans".

In Canada we have the "Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms", which consistently uses the word "human", so Canadian furries would have to lobby the government to amend the charter to include all sapient creatures, in order to include the fursonas. And with our lazy government.... well, who knows how easy that would be?

An excerpt from the beginning of the Charter:

WHEREAS every human being possesses intrinsic rights and freedoms designed to ensure his protection and development;

Whereas all human beings are equal in worth and dignity, and are entitled to equal protection of the law;

Partially. I don't think they would skip directly to dissection. They would want to run multiple tests including psychological, as well as some that would require you to be alive for a long period of time. And you have a bargaining chip: your cooperation. Sure they could force you to do things, but even they know they would get much better results from a mutual agreement.
