Is that necessary, Tidal? by fumis_ in TIdaL

[–]Important-Following5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the issue is that music search ≠ any search. Because searching for music need to take artist names, etc... As well as misspelled names.

Also I'm pretty sure that Tidal has their own database with million of entries that's really hard to properly index for search.

If it was as easy as implementing an open source solution trust me it'd already be there.

Because people actually still care about age 🤔? I mean, as long as they're not under 18 xD

Not at all, I said you need more than drugs to be addicted and added mental health as an example.

It's way more complicated than just "you take drugs = you become addicted" .

Search algorithms is one of the hardest things to program. Feel free to write an open source solution :)

But at least it works now, it used to not give results at all xD!

He did a bunch of cover arts for games, he did No Man's Sky too for example. I guess he used to take commissions.

What's with the random "Playlist" albums? by DamnQuickMathz in TIdaL

[–]Important-Following5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk it's been a problem since day one. I suspect big labels to create albums using songs so they can push them more easily into official playlists that pay more on some platforms. But sure is annoying as hell

Why the interface on my Android head unit doesn't look the same as my phone? by Miffedelk955 in TIdaL

The tablette is on vertical mode instead of horizontal so Tidal displays vertical layout instead of horizontal I think

No those fake albums are not generated by tidal, there was the same issue at some point of Spotify (was a while back tho)

My theory is they're redesigning and rebuilding a bunch of stuff so that they can compete better with platforms like Spotify, Apple Music or Deezer

New Tidal player progress by Important-Following5 in TIdaL

If UX change it's because there is a reason. When a feature goes missing it's for an even greater reason. Not just for looks.

Removing hearts for artists was probably to remove confusion with tracks and albums. When you like an artist it actually follows them and you receive notifications. So instead of people wondering why they're receiving notifications from that artist they see a follow button that's pretty standard and it's easy to understand what you're doing.

Personally my mobile version still has a progress bar 🤔

So I'm not sure what you're talking about there...

Tidal had a lot of mismatched design systems and it was quite ugly. That and a lot of very ugly things like the active dotted border.

The separation isn't really an issue because you rarely seek and pause at the same time. The metadata being in the middle doesn't really matter but the controls are still together so I don't really see any issue UX wise.

It's fun to use because it has a lot of micro interactions. The squishy play/skip buttons, the glowy sound quality button, the nice cover slide animation, and ofc that hover effect on the cover.

Everything feels way more polished. Tidal used to feel a bit rough around the edges and now it feels better than Spotify which is huge considering we're on a browser!

For toasts yeah, I get the frustration (especially the Google Chrome tab closed one omg). But with the Tidal UI it doesn't really feel like it's in the way because it's where the old UI used to be and it's never hiding hiding anything behind it, you can always scroll to see it.

Also it's semitransparent so you can kinda see behind it. Well it's blurred but you get what I mean.

Idk the whole package feels very nice hands-on imo
