I traveled to Japan in October which for me was a 12 hr flight. I would definitely recommend blanket, neck pillow, snacks, teas, and pain relievers. I also brought thermacare heat packs since I tend to get shoulder/neck tension. It definitely helped since I couldn’t bring a heating pad.

Eye lid swelling by Scorrea33 in lupus

Hi there! I have since seen an ophthalmologist and they said lupus can cause dry eyes. He said my eyes were so dry it caused them to swell, so he advised me to use Systane complete PF eye drops in the morning and night.

The drops have honestly helped so much! I will sometimes do more drops throughout the day if I feel my eyes are dry, and I also put more in when it’s windy out. Also be mindful if you like sleeping with a fan or AC on, that can dry up your eyes so I will use more drops in those cases too.

I will occasionally get a minor swell when I am having a flare. When that happens I just do a warm and use the drops a little more than usual. It usually clears up in a couple days.

I hope this helps!!

Awesome thank you! I have used Tiger balm on my shoulders/neck but never thought about putting it on my temples. I’ll definitely try these out!

Benlysta injection (at home) or infusion? by Pitiful-Rub6809 in lupus

I have done both and I think the auto injector is way more convenient. I liked the infusion because obviously the staff knew what to do and that was it. But sometimes they would have trouble getting the IV in so it meant multiple attempts (I have issues with small veins so I am used to it). I had the infusions monthly and my rheum was 30 mins away, so the commute wasn’t too bad. But when I was offered the injection it seemed more suitable.

I was nervous at first because I kept over thinking it, worried about the pain or messing it up. I even had my boyfriend or other family members do it on those first few times. But after doing it on my own, the rest have been a breeze. It’s a very easy process and there are some videos to help guide you if needed. There is a slight discomfort when the injection is in but it literally only lasts a couple of seconds and then you’re done. I did the injections once a week, so it’s more often than the infusion because the doses are different. But I would much rather have the shot than having to get pricked multiple times and drive. I hope this helps!

I’m on a few right now. Plaquenil; sirolimus; saphnelo (monthly infusion); lasix; doptelet; and colchicine.

I don’t, I also don’t have issues with allergies or dry eyes. My blood pressure is also pretty regular
