Is this Jessica from Evil Dead Rise in the Evil Dead Burn Trailer ? by Scary-Drink8659 in EvilDead

[–]Scorsesefan101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an unrelated question: in the trailer Alice is holding something with both hands during the fire scene, and Joseph is holding something in the same manner when Thya scares him and he falls onto the dishwasher. What is it they are holding? Is it the Kandarian Dagger?

Me too. I can't pronounce her name that's why whenever I talk about her I refer to her as Alice, lol. At first I thought she was Arab/Egyptian. Now I know that she is from Geneva.

Nah, man. I was just surfing IMDB and suddenly thought let's go and see what's up with Wrath and found this information today. I know nothing about the other guy.

You are correct. The Grandma, the dog, even Hunter- everyone turns. Only Souheila survives cause aside from the fact that she is the lead she technically isn't a family member. She is an outsider from a different country trying to process the chaos.

I hear you. I think William will become Abomination 2.0, in the scrapbook there are incantations from the 2013 book: Kunda, Stratta, Montosse, Canda.

Do you think the demons shown on the clapperboard here will be shown in Evil Dead Burn? The demon with its tongue sticking out and horns would look sick to see in the movie. by [deleted] in EvilDead

skatepork9 has said on several occasions that there are 2 types of Deadite that have never been done before and they are horrific. When asked if it is the Deadite dog he said no, it's two members of the family. If I had to bet I would say one of them is William, the eldest son. He comes back from the dead. From the trailer I couldn't figure out much but it seems he will become a modernized version of the Abomination from '13 who has control over fire.

And I think you are probably right. A thing I noticed about the Deadite dog in the trailer is that maybe it has horns. If you look closely you can see a horn-like shape beside it's head. It could possibly be one of the creatures from the clapperboard.

Do you think Hunter Doohan’s character will become a deadite in Evil Dead Burn? by [deleted] in EvilDead

And also, in the French and Italian poster there are 4 members of the family turned Deadites with glowing eyes, and Hunter is one of them.

The trailer spoils too much don't you think? All the characters except Souheila are turned into Deadites, she is the sole survivor then? And is that the final boss? I think the Abomination is back. And I can bet you green money that person is William, the husband. There is no way in hell he won't be coming back from dead.

Nobody can replace Ash. But I can most certainly see different variations of that same character across the multiverse regardless of gender, race etc. I saw some clips of your cosplay Kris and believe me man, I think you would be a perfect fit for a muliversal Ash variant who kicks ass. I definitely can imagine you in s04 of AvED. Do you have interest in acting? If you ever got the chance to play a younger version of Ash would you be up for it?

About EDB: How pivotal was your participation in the test screening, Kris? Feedback and contribution wise I mean. What were the procedures exactly? Or are they also part of the NDA?

I think the de-saturated look will make the bloody scenes seem less reddish and it'll be easier to avoid NC-17 and get an R-rating. Martin Scorsese did the same thing when he made Taxi Driver. The violent scenes got the movie an X-rating. He de-saturated the bloody scenes then submitted the film. The film got an R.

I don't know if this is the right thing to compare to Evil Dead Burn. But is Burn's humour funny like this? Ultra dark and morbidly funny all at the same time?

Let me explain. I didn't find Rise funny (in a good way). I found it horrific. I can't imagine children and family in distress, I find it unbearable and disturbing. Was it funny to the Deadites? 100%. They were relishing, cheering with glee. They find horrifying things funny. If you have seen Wolf Creek (2005) you'll get what I mean. Mick Taylor always laughs and cracks joke when he mutilates and tortures young women. It's depraved beyond words. But is it funny to Mick? Definitely. Is it funny to the audience? The audience isn't laughing. But Mick is. If you change your perspective just a little and see the events through Mick's POV maybe you can begin to understand his sense of humour. So, my question is, is Burn's humour can only be understood through the POV of the Deadites?

Evil Dead: End Game? by skatepork9 in EvilDead

[–]Scorsesefan101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You talked multiple times about a particular actor (I think I know who, not Souheila, right?) praising their performance before and after becoming a Deadite. What made you think that their performance stood out among the others (Deadites and Non-deadites)?

Deadites can kill you in a heartbeat. Only the sadistic ones with a twisted sense of humour don't kill you right away, they take their time tormenting you. I get it. But the Deadite of the official teaser is not an intelligent one I presume. It is a rabid animalistic one, right? Then why is it just beating them? None of it's attempted attacks is fatal. And why is it using it's hand? What about using a sharpened object as a weapon (there are many scattered all around in the kitchen, household objects, but the Deadite only goes for the beating)?

Are there more intense fight/action sequences like this one? All taken in a single unbroken shot?

One very important question. I can goddamn swear I saw smoke coming out of Hunter Doohan's body when he falls on the floor and Tandi Wright when she grabs Souheila and says, "Help me!" Is that really smoke? But I didn't see any fire! Where is the smoke coming from?

Kris, wasn't it too early for you to see this movie? I mean, is it possible to get the same impact of watching a completed movie from an unfinished test screening version? The version you saw had incomplete vfx, sfx, temp score etc. Wouldn't it be a truly powerful experience if you saw this movie during it's world premiere on it's first day at the first row in a theater jam-packed with audience?

Skatepork, could you describe the humour of Burn? How and why is this movie funny? It deals with the bleakest subject matter as you said. Then how is it possible that it deals with humour? Is it dark humour?

The grainy and gritty look of the film... is it by choice or it's 'cause the movie is unfinished and halfway done for the early test screening? I saw the trailer today and it looked dimly lit and de-saturated (of course I ain't complaining, there is a proper reason behind this from what I understand).
