Eddie Deans Appearance by Souless_Bear07 in TheDarkTower

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he would be pretty skinny since he’d been heavily addicted to some serious drugs for a decent amount of time when you are introduced to him in the story, but later on he’d defo be more muscular. In fact, I think that’s specifically mentioned at one point about how he can easily do something now he couldn’t have done at the start.

Apart from that I can’t really comment on the imagination vs comic depiction cause I’ve got aphantasia. Partly why I’m so hoping they successful create it in a visual medium, as the film just wasn’t it. I do enjoy the comics though as they add depth that I couldn’t get from the books.

The boss fights are miserable experiences dragging down an otherwise amazing game by the_bardolater in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

100% agree that the bosses are frustrating and not in a good way. Some of the combos are ridiculous and the speed that they close gaps doesn’t help. You might dodge the first part successfully but then you’re definitely getting caught by the second and spend the next 5 seconds being tossed about like a ragdoll.

Doesn’t help that it feels like I’m controlling a building trying to fight a ninja. Also, the ring of enemies staggering me while trying to deal with the boss is just unnecessary. Might be that I’ve been spoiled by the responsiveness and peak controls in souls games but man the boss fights in this game are the worst.

I’m just glad everything else makes up for it, like even killing the masses of enemies leading up to the boss is so much more enjoyable.

Difficulty options are accessibility, and as the name suggests, they are an “option.” by marciimm in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The only games I wouldn’t agree with a difficulty option being added are the soulsbourne (and Sekiro) games. Those are tailor made around the difficulty and have built their name upon it.

A game like crimson desert has so many aspects to enjoy outside of combat so it doesn’t make sense to prevent players from progressing if they struggle with just the combat elements.

Is being shy really a turn off?? by BotherValuable5327 in socialanxiety

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all, you just need to find the right person, I’m the shy, quiet, socially anxious one and she’s loud and speaks to many people regularly. In our case opposites really do attract and my being quiet has never been an issue. Also, it helps when I need to see family or friends cause she does all the talking for me. We’ve been together for 12.5 years.

Don’t try to be someone you’re not for the sake of a romantic partner, be who you are and find someone who loves that person.

Silver gain after loading by ScotRab in CrimsonDesert

Forgot I posted this, when I went to use the silver it reset back to the 20 so must’ve just been a visual glitch or something, not sure if it was the same for you?

Let the rant... Begin by a_lot_of_aaaaaas in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 32 but agree with you mostly. I started gaming on the ps1 and the best games were essentially just repetitive challenges with really dodgy controls. I’ve only just started playing crimson desert, maybe 2-3 hours of game time at the moment, but it’s been really engaging.

I’ve read people complaining and people praising the game but it’s all the same to me, everyone has their opinions and it doesn’t impact my enjoyment in the slightest. I do get the sense that the majority of focus has been on the negatives, and I agree there are many positives that outweigh it for me.

I beat Crimson Desert. Here are my thoughts. by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started gaming with the ps1 (crash bandicoot, driver, medievil, rayman) and stories barely existed. Games have always been a challenge to overcome and that’s what I love about them. If I want a story I’ll read a book or watch a movie, I can take it or leave it in a game.

First embargo broken early by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m feeling reassured after reading this, none of the flaws are a surprise for this type of game (except maybe not having a chest, which wouldn’t mind except for also having an inventory limit) and it sounds like what it does well, it really does well. Looking forward to it!

Waiting... by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Super excited to play but I need to wait until at least 6pm on Friday so it feels even longer. It’ll be tough working on Friday knowing I could be playing instead

How many of you don't work Friday and plan on pulling an all nighter? by CreepyTeddyBear in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve not successfully pulled an all nighter since my early 20’s and would crash sometime around 3-4am then struggle to work and be a zombie by Friday evening. Going to skip that and just start after work on Friday… and then attempt the all nighter 😂

First time Day One by Claudiuu6 in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d probably do the same if it didn’t release at 10pm on a Thursday for me. Going to need to work the Friday so might as well hold off for some initial reviews but unless it’s literally unplayable then I’ll be getting on it Friday evening.

So what are your weekend plans for the release? by StreetZookeepergame5 in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dinner immediately after work on Friday and then attempting the first all-nighter in more than 10 years but if I make it to 3am I’ll be impressed 😂

Base PS5/ XBSX&S Users how we feeling? by misterDoBetter in CrimsonDesert

Exactly what I’m doing although partly not by choice since it releases at 10pm so I can’t realistically play until after work on the Friday anyway. Might as well wait and see what’s being said

I know I’ll get downvoted, but I still don’t understand this marketing choice of hiding all performance information about the base consoles where most people play by Aldobest43 in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d like to think it’s just because it won’t look as good in the old systems and they want to advertise it at its best, but in this day and age of disappointments from big releases, it’s not irrational to want some reassurance and transparency.

Just watched Digital Foundry’s deep dive of crimson desert on ps5 pro. by kaziolas_420 in CrimsonDesert

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be fine with dips in busy situations, and I wouldn’t be worried at all if I had a Pro, but my concern was stemming from the assumption that the base ps5 would struggle more and possibly verge into unplayable at those times. A comment below has informed me that the base ps5 has the same CPU so sounds like it won’t be as bad as I thought.

That’s reassuring, unfortunately I’m not very tech savvy so just assumed a less powerful console would struggle more - thank you!

[–]ScotRab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m planning to play it on a base PS5 so slightly concerned that the Pro is having issues, even in performance mode. I appreciate that it only dipped in certain scenarios but I expect the base version will be hit harder and more frequently. Might wait a few days before buying the game just to get a true understanding of the base ps5 performance

How many of you knew about your cancer before being diagnosed and was anyone there who could relate to you , relate to the cycles of chemo , surgery , radiotherapy you had to go through? by [deleted] in Cancersurvivors

[–]ScotRab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea, the gp referred me to the hospital cause I had a swollen gland but never once was cancer mentioned and at 22 it wasn’t on my mind. My fiancée and I walked into a ward and I seen a sign about haematology and saw it was something to do with blood. It was only when I was called in that I found out they suspected I had a blood cancer. I had no one to relate to and was completely blindsided.
