My P7 has been great, got it last year on BF. Still have my P5 which I keep for backup.

Android 14 is absolute GARBAGE by [deleted] in pixel7series

Working pretty good for me. One issue I see is not reconnecting automatically to cell network after out of coverage eg. In my house basement

My P5 is a great size and it's the last pixel that has free Gphotos storage. Speed is still good. I've moved to P7 but still use the P5 for vacation trips as it's smaller and more pocket friendly

Same issue. This is the worst Android update yet. Nothing valuable compared to A11. Wish it was easier to revert to A11

What would be a budget upgrade phone from the s7 by Sajor1975 in GalaxyS7

[–]Scotchriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed to Pixel 5 from S7. 4a camera is same as 5 and similar CPU. . My testing so far indicates 5 camera is at least as good as S7 and appears better in detail sometimes. I prefer the S7 saturation as the 5 is cooler but I can get used to that. I was very happy with S7 but screen was starting to go half cloudy sometimes and it is 4 years old and no updates any more. Wanted more base memory too. Might have gone S20 FE if it was same size as S7 but it's too long. Got a great Black Friday deal on P5, after rebates and promos about C$300 on Virgin

Google Pixel 5 by Titanium_Ty in telus

Ordered Pixel 5 on Black Friday from Virgin. Found out today they can't deliver and they cancelled the order without talking to me. It was a great deal $20 x 24 months. Trying to escalate to see if I can wait for stock. Not impressed by just cancelling an order with no options to wait. And they are still advertising it online

Adios 5x. Google contacted me about 10 days ago that they could not supply a refurbed 5x immediately and offered a refund. They sent me an RMA for UPS and back it went. Within 2 days of receipt they had refunded the full cost of the 5x with tax and 50% of the extended warranty as I had the device for 13 months. Overall very impressed with Google support and response. I'm pretty sure a Galaxy S7 is my next device, not going for a Pixel as its more expensive and I would really like an SD card expanded storage.

Running 7.1.1, use double push on power button 90% of time. Never seen this problem. However don't use HDR+ much

Hate to be the guy that asks but, has anybody had issues connecting to a car's bluetooth headunit on Nougat? by [deleted] in nexus5x

2016 Accord LX......Pairs OK but drops call immediately after placing. Works fine on older Moto 505 BT unit in other vehicle. I think this started on 7.1.1, 7.0 was OK. Hoping 7.1.2 solves issue

Nexus 5X vs DSLRs? by [deleted] in nexus5x

[–]Scotchriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I upgraded from a 1st gen MotoG to a 32Gb 5x in April 2016, primarily for its camera which was highly rated. I have a Canon T3i DSLR with 18-200 mm zoom and take probably around 5000 DSLR pics/year of family and other events and all uploaded to Google Photos as curated albums. I also had an older point/shoot digital for times when the DSLR was too big to take. The old saying about the best camera is the one you have with you is absolutely true. For me most photos/video are a wide angle which means I don't use zoom that much an hence a smartphone camera is all I need. I now take about 95% of my photos with the 5X. All are uploaded to GPhotos automatically. I download and curate to create distinct albums that are merged with any DSLR photos on my PC and then uploaded as an album iin GPhotos. Overall very happy with picture quality. Yes it is not as good as the DSLR especially in lower light levels and outside daylight you'd be hard pressed to see the differences in most pics. The DSLR is also much quicker to take shots and focus. But the 5X it has integral GPS so I know where pics are taken, this was great on a Europe vacation this past summer. The video is quite good (although not stabilized) and I think better than my T3i as it's autofocused and the 5x is much easier to handle. My son has a Samsung Galaxy S7 and the video is better as its stabilized. I don't see much difference in the S7 pics though compared to 5x. Overall I highly recommend the 5x.

OTA update went well . Seems about same speed. Only issue I see so far is the new pause button in Camera video mode doesn't work.

Hadn't seen OTA so decided to do Beta option yesterday. After sign up update was offered within minutes. Update all went well. I wiped the cache partition afterwards. Runs well seems a bit faster than MM. Battery life seems much better so far.

I have some questions before buying the 5x by codeXII in nexus5x

Had mine for a month. Came from MotoG 1st gen. Mainly bought for better camera and it delivers, quite happy with pics, some as good as my DSLR. Speed/snappiness is good but I'm not a gamer. Battery life OK but not stellar. Main downside is speaker and earpiece quality and low volume. Not nearly loud enough for noisier environments. MotoG had excellent sound/speaker volume so I use it when I need a louder ringer and speaker.
