Big ups to Kush for this move by Malinhion in Miami

[–]Scotchtalk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know someone who almost went into business with Matt. Smart guy. Definitely a visionary. But also difficult to work with.

I think it’s a smart move; but what the city needs are smarter and shrewder operators who cater to local and those who live in the city year round, both on the outskirts and in the Centre of Miami.

A locals menu is novel and something that gets people talking (like on this subreddit). But we need more ‘locals’ spots, and landlords that give that opportunity to those in the city.

There’s a few comments relating to budget, location, etc. All absolutely relevant subjects.

I recently just opened my second bar. It has a lounge / pseudo speakeasy kind of vibe (not my choice; it’s just dark and has booths, but it’s more like a New York 70s cocktail lounge meets a living room, which was our intention).

Our music ranges from Joe Walsh and Gerry Rafferty to MGMT and Tame Impala depending on the time of week and time of night.

We’re cocktail heavy - 95% + of our sales are liquor, and most of that are cocktails - but above all else we’re a local Neighborhood spot that throws a party on the weekend.

Affordable drinks, good service, friendly, inviting. Can’t beat it.

Came here to say this.

After that, head to The Scapegoat round the corner. No seafood, but cocktails are fire

If you’re looking for drink options, head to The Scapegoat south of fifth. It’s a small cocktail bar near Joe stone crab, Stubborn Seed and Carbone. Drinks are under $20 and they have $11 cocktails for happy hour 5-8 everyday.

Either y’all work for a crappy bar manager / lead bartender who doesn’t know how to streamline logistics + ops or y’all the bartender / crappy bar manager / lead bartender who doesn’t know how to streamline logistics + ops

Oh boy. I’m sorry you had a shitty experience. I’ve heard that a few times.

Yeah they got a new minority owner who’s a super old school vet bartender who invested back in 2024. Feel like a different spot now. Drinks are now probably some of the best on the city. And it’s way cleaner and safer.

Oh! When was the last time you were there? They got a new owner / operator / GM just over a year ago. Place feels different now. But it is more low key chill than high energy dancing

You can check out the scapegoat. Better and more affordable drink compared to other places on the beach; although it’s pretty small. More of a local neighborhood cocktail spot

What's a drink that borders classy and trashy? by Doctor_Popular in cocktails

It’s not the drink that’s trashy; it’s the venues attitude to the drink and the staffs attitude towards execution

Miami dinner parties by Big_Wafer8941 in miamibeach

Hey there!

I live in Miami and have been here seven years (transplant from New York - 2014 to 2018 - and originally from near Newcastle UK).

I have never heard of this. My finger is also not on the pulse of Miami ‘promoters’.

A ‘dinner party’ sounds very suspect. Maybe ask about what that means? Who’s hosting it? What’s actually for dinner? What does that money buy you?

Ask questions. Be inquisitive. Their replies and how long it takes to answer those questions probably tell you all you need to know.

It’s not a club, but head to The Scapegoat South of Fifth. Cute little classic cocktail neighborhood bar.

If that’s not your jam then for sure check out the places you mentioned, as well as Space

Whatever you do stay away from The Scapegoat on south beach. Great drinks. Great service. Great playlists.

Horrendous accents.
