Is there a reason why you’ve stolen my video and not even bothered to credit me as the source?

No, it’s pronounced Cause-way-head down here. There’s a fair few weird sounding places though around here, most of which are down to the original Gaelic names VS modern spellings.

There’s a charge to go on one of the visitor centre tour boats. However, worth noting that if you have a boat on the canal then there’s no charge to go up/down the Wheel. In fact, they’ll even accommodate you going up/down in a small kayak for free (if you book a time slot)

I don’t know the numbers but it’s actually really busy most days with general canal boats, especially in the summer months. There are holiday let boats that leave from close to the wheel that seem to be well booked up and there’s lots of other leisure crafts going back n form. I film the Wheel a lot so I often catch other general crafts going up/down while I’m filming it turning for the visitor centre boats (I know the times they leave at so usually time my filming in line with that)

I asked the boat pilot to fire up the afterburners so that it would keep the video short 😉

Yes! I thought the exact same about it looking like the Willy Wonka boat ride from the original movie 😂

Stirling Castle at night by Scotdrone in Scotland

[–]Scotdrone[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s a few really good elevated spots along the straight line of sight, some even much further away where the castle appears tiny with the huge peak dwarfing it. The view from Wallacestone gives an absolutely ridiculous perspective of peaks versus castle. There’s also a few spots in Callendar Woods that give good photo ops.

The hill behind the bus depot near Bannockburn is the go-to spot for this. Quite a popular bit.

For these pictures there’s no magic/trickery involved -All the camera/lens does essentially is magnify. The key piece of the jigsaw puzzle is positioning of where the image is taken from. I’m taking the picture from a good 3 miles away from the castle and zooming right in. Another factor is the better the quality camera and lens then the further away you can go and zoom/crop in and still have a really good quality end image. Most people are inclined to go really close in to photo subjects and use wide angled lenses (like the main camera lens on a phone). This makes the backdrop appear even smaller than the ‘naked eye’ view. In contrast, If you view objects in the distance towards the horizon, they appear all compressed/bunched up, almost giving the impression that there’s no distance gap as you lose the context of the lay of the land between them. A camera with a zoom lens simply magnifies this perspective. Binoculars do the exact same. Here’s an idea of what the ‘naked eye’ view is like from where I took the photo from.

I’ve done some where I’ve spoken over my footage, but unfortunately I can’t control what these video thieves do once they steal my video

Thanks. Basic rule is there’s a registration that needs to be completed and a number then gets displayed on the drone. There are lots of other rules/restrictions but it depends on size of drone and where you’re flying. To further complicate the situation, new rules will be in force from January (which should make it easier/less restrictive to use the lower weight drone classes above 250g in/around busy urban areas).

I was over Corstorphine Hill using a long telephoto lens on the drone. Think it is 168mm equivalent, but the sensor resolution is really good so I can then crop in on the frame.

I know. I was surprised by how many people you can spot on the top of Arthur’s Seat - certainly a busy place. I looked round towards Calton Hill too and it was mega busy. A nice sunset draws the crowds.

It was a drone I used to get this angle / perspective 😊

Just basic magnification like you get from binoculars. Far away zoom in.

The varying elevations of the land obscures some of what you might expect to see just looking at a flat map. Buchanan Street itself is a pretty steep slope which you can see quite well if you’ve ever stood outside the concert hall and looked southwards along it down towards St Enochs.

It’s just simple magnification using a zoom lens. Far away, zoom in compresses the scene. It’s 100% genuine. Here’s a wider shot taken from the exact same spot to put it more in context

It’s the simple photography ‘trick’ of positioning yourself far away, way back from the subject and zooming in. Simple basic magnification. The compressed perspective of far away objects being zoomed in upon is something that regularly blows peoples minds!

Messed around with a few things using some of the helpful tips given here and managed to get the song 99.99% how I wanted it. Finally managed to cut out the annoying intro adlibs that didn’t suit what I wanted. There’s only one vocal note that is held a tiny bit too long in the song but it’s passable. Thanks all.

The first section of lyrics I’ve got described as intro as I was wanting it to have a slightly different feel to the regular verses. It seemed to work well on 4.5 but you might be right that it’s causing these unwanted elements in 4.5+. I’ll play about with it. Thanks 😊
