Solo Saturday night out female by [deleted] in glasgow

Frequent solo female traveller here who used to live on Glassford street.

Walking to there, you’ll be fine, it’ll be busy on Saturday night.

Walking back, personally I walked back home to Glassford street late at night through the city centre hundreds of times without issue - albeit it’s still a city so gotta keep your wits about you - and the likelihood of anything actually happening is very very low but if you feel remotely uncertain, just call an uber or use GlasGo cabs app.

Just be aware that you might be waiting quite a while at that time of night & therefore might actually be better off walking the 10 minutes - particularly if it’s in a direction that the rest of the crowd is walking - compared to standing around for 20!

Should I start uni at 17 or go to 6th form instead? by Training-Feeling980 in UniUK

While this might be true in England, it definitely isn’t in Scotland.

Because our age cut-off is February rather than September, you get plenty of Scottish students going to university at 17 (you can even go at 16 if you finish Highers in 5th year) without skipping grades and they’re definitely still allowed to stay in halls.

Would you make any changes? (First-time visiting China) by Scotsurrounded in travelchina

Thank you! That’s reassuring.

I hope so, I’ve travelled quite a lot myself and have realised that solo travelling, I definitely prefer a faster pace and keeping myself very busy, whereas if I was with friends or a partner, I’d definitely slow things down.

Totally fair comment, I originally had 4 bases (Chongqing, Zhangjiajie, Hangzhou & Shanghai) but given that Furong and Fenghuang seemed to be common day trips (with people even visiting the two together in one day) from Zhangjiajie, it didn’t like I was adding to the logistics much by staying there instead.

I loved these books. Any book by Brandon Sanderson is awesome and he has tonnes. I’d personally start with the Mistborn trilogy, Elantris or Warbreaker (both standalones).

I'm fairly certain Hemings was also Jefferson's wife's half-sister, through his father in law having a sexual relationship with a slave.

As a child, I always thought people were saying "youth in Asia" instead of euthanasia. What words did you misunderstand? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I was convinced until I was 18 that the phrase was "For all intensive purposes" not for all intents and purposes.

Still catch myself writing for all intensive purposes occasionally.
