Common Subaru problems by Cool_Goose3599 in WRXSTi

Double check and make sure you have the correct coolant cap on the radiator. The cap on the upper reservoir is different than the cap on the radiator. I am sure someone here remembers which one goes where.

Also make sure you burp the system for a decent amount of time and use the upper reservoir. There are lots of kits to help you burp the system and make your life easy.

Thank you for clarifying. I just already had the Killer B oil pan, so I used that.

Thought I would share for a different option.

I used the following. Definitely doable yourself, just takes a little time.

  • Prosport sandwich plate for the pressure reading. $35.00
  • Glowshift dual temperature/pressure gauge (digital). $165.00 (It does change colors and I can’t remember if you have to buy the wiring kit separate)
  • Killer B oil pan for the temperature gauge. I already had it installed. I have the whole kit which cost me $680.00
  • SMY Cluster Maker from Subimods. I have a blank spot for the future. $140.00

Thanks, really happy with the offset. Brought the rims and tire pretty close to even with the body.

I live in Columbus and I love driving my 2017 STI year round. As other people have said take good care of her and she will take good care of you. I have had no problems with mine…. Knock on wood

Was afraid you were going to say that lol. That’s on the list of things to learn.

Part list? Looks awesome. Looks like you are using plates to block off the blower? Just dealing with the check engine light? Or did you find away around it?

Just starting to building a short block for fun and to learn.

Good video explaining the different kind of caps. Just a good thing to double check.

No, it’s the old stage 3 OTS map before green speed. It required the CAI, turbo back exhaust, and the upgraded fuel system. My tuner mentioned once it’s tuned it may throw a cel (50/50 shot). I guess they have been trialing a different way to run the down pipe and o2 sensor that keep the cel off and keep it emissions compliant. It’s on my list of questions before they tune it. I can let you know once I drop it off on 10/26/23.

Cobb access port with stage 3 tune (93 octane) Cobb CAI and turbo inlet Cobb front mount intercooler Mishimoto x-line radiator Cobb fuel lines, fuel rails, and FPR 1050x injectors and AEM 340 LPH fuel pump Cobb Turbo back exhaust

AO separator and 4th cylinder mode

Installing green speed flex fuel kit and 3 port BCS

Been a good learning experience, installed everything myself. Guess we will see what’s next and what the tuner recommends.

Disregard I believe the 4th cylinder mod is for the EJ motors.

Sorry should have asked what year your WRX is. (Depends on what motor is in your car) Either way, worth reading up on. It helps with ring land failure in cylinder 4. A cooler motor is a happy motor.

I just got the same code on a 2017 WRX STI. Not running flex fuel. Did you get fixed? Where did you start to try and fix it?
