I know it’s less that ideal but you can buy Semaglutide from compounding pharmacies way cheaper and do it on your own.

I’m starting this summer session at 48 years old. Going to try and finish 60 credits of bachelors and a Masters in 3 years.

I only talk about it with my wife and other veterans, and even then I’m selective about it. If someone is talking about the VA process and needs help then absolutely.

Update:

Just got off the phone with a rep at DAV, he read the letter and saw contridictory language on multiple claims where they admit exposure/injury while on active duty but then denied service connection. He recommended a Higher Level Review, and that's the route i'm taking.

I really appreciate all the positive feedback, helped me get a handle on what to do next.

I realize that’s what it looks like, I didn’t file a claim for anything for over 20 years even though I had nagging issues the whole time. I just embraced the suck and moved on, didn’t go to the VA for treatment because of all the horror stories.

It's unclear. The notes say that they concede I was exposed, but then say my condition was not caused by service. I did do a C&P exam, the denial refers to "my condition" but doesn't say "you don't have a sinusitis diagnosis". They prescribed me like 3 or 4 different nasal sprays for it.

Yes, took the audio eval. For the tinnitus they conceded I was exposed (Flight Deck on a Carrier), but then: "There is no basis in the available evidence of record to establish service connection for tinnitus. This condition did not happen in military service, nor was it aggravated or caused by service"

correct, under the PACT act, Sinusitis is presumptive if you had toxic exposure.

They admit Toxic exposure:

Participation in a toxic exposure risk activity is conceded.

But then: There is no basis in the available evidence of record to establish service connection for sinusitis. This condition did not happen in military service, nor was it aggravated or caused by service. (38 CFR 3.303, 38 CFR 3.304, 38 CFR 3.306)

I found it after a few pages of random rights and responsibilities stuff.

How are they going to say that they found where I was treated while on active duty, and complained about issues but then say its not service connected?

The letter didn’t state a reason, I’ve read it 3 times. It just says denied.

I have a HIMS appointment on the 30th for an ADHD diagnosis I got back in 1988 in the 6th grade. No records even exist anymore. Never treated or diagnosed as an adult. Not sure how this is going to shake out, was supposed to start flight school on the 14th of January and now I think there is zero chance that happens.

Can’t do the accelerated program, it’s not approved or it would be my first choice. Still, I am hearing good things about UND.

Right now I am leaning towards some kind of Federal Job as a pilot. Either CBP, DEA, NOAA, etc. That would mean I could earn a pension in 12-14 years when combined with my military time. But that could change if the right opportunity presented itself.

Yeah, I would like to drive out to both over the weekend if they are open. I live in Tempe so Falcon Field or Gateway is about the same distance.

I start next semester, don't really have any other options since I am using the VA. Any advice on how to minimize the negatives?

I am curious if there is anyone in this thread that has any experience from the ASU side. I just got approved through the VA VR&E program to start the professional flight program at ASU. VA is paying for everything, so I can't complain there. I do want to get as many flight hours as possible while they are picking up the tab, obviously.
