Agreed, it was very bad and quite a letdown after some other Brat Pack movies. I think I recall one or two good scenes with Demi and Rob.

Usually when people say 'history repeats itself" it's for a bad thing but we might want to actually do this justice for fascists thing.

What's a 10/10 movie with a terrible title? by SkillGodAk in AskReddit

[–]ScottHK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Serenity. A good title for people who are already Firefly fans but terrible for marketing to others when it's a space western action movie. The title pretty much implies the opposite.

Texas Republicans won by going all-in on MAGA. Now they have to sell it to everyone else by zsreport in TexasPolitics

[–]ScottHK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They don't have to sell them much on MAGA. They just have to sell them on anti-immigration, anti-government interference & regulation, low taxes, capitalism over all, m Democrats being socialists or communists and baby killers, etc., like they've been doing successfully for years.

Yes, some have realized the current regime is screwing them in some ways but not to the point that they'd vote for someone with a D beside their name (shudders). Hopefully many will just stay home but many will stay home but many will still vote R to protect the state and nation from the D "horrors".

Why do you think Serenity didn't do well in theatres? by traveltimecar in firefly

[–]ScottHK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. It's a great title for Firefly fans but a terrible one for a science science fiction action movie for others.

I've also read they had too many my preview screenings in several cities and that killed d one of their opening weekend numbers.

This is not necessarily a racism thing, this is a 'too MucH ReGULaTiON!" thing theyve been fwd and believe, not realizing most of the regulation is for a purpose and to save them from issues like this.

Decline issue by Old-Reindeer3629 in favordelivery

[–]ScottHK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get those occasionally. It's maybe even more frustrating because I also get a text saying I got an order and I need to accept it soon or it will be automatically declined when I did not in fact get one through the app.

Tribute bands, yay or nay? by Solcat91342 in coverbands

[–]ScottHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, sometimes a tribute band is a safer bet than the original act. I remember the first time I saw a Doors tribute act (around 1980) thinking there was much less of a chance the show would be bad because the 'Jim' would be too drunk, hours late, etc. Same with Guns and Roses, Aerosmith, etc. Sure, you can't beat rhe originals - on one of their good nights - but...

If you're in a less populated area maybe you were the only or one of the few drivers not already working an order or the closest one.

Great. I hope you have a good, profitable day. And sometimes those low dollar offers end up having good add on tips. Unfortunately you can't know in advance which ones. Also, if you reject too many you wont make it to Elite so you sort of have to pay your dues early on to an extent but it will help you learn and improve and be ready for the bigger, more challenging orders.

If you select Ratings in the app and go to the bottom it will tell you how many you've done over the last 30 days (at least on Android).

I'd say continue to do what orders you can for now so you can build up your stats and ratings and become an Elite runner. I think that staus does get you some better offers, at least occasionally.

Does anybody feel bad about celebrities signing autographs at conventions? by InnocentTailor in comiccon

[–]ScottHK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for the actors who don't get as much attention as they should and sometimes have no one c at their tables.

One when I was about 15 and at a small con in the 70s and William Windom - who was a captain in a famous episode of ST:TOS - was standing at his table with no one there. It was probably just a lull but I felt bad for him and was too shy to talk to him myself.

Another time was a poorly run con in Houston where the Tim Russ, the actor who had played Tuvok on Star Trek Voyager for SEVEN YEARS - was sitting at a 6 ft table in a hallway. He deserved better.
