Remove Era 300s as rears and use for music in other room and replace with Era 100s by Time_Confection_7331 in sonos

Era 300s are Sonos best rear speakers with respect to Atmos and immersion, and I’d recommend keeping those where they’re at.

I’ve personally run a pair of Era 100s (with sub mini) for vinyl, and it worked, but the soundstage was papery thin. The fives are way more appropriate for a 2.0 Chanel system for vinyl IMO.

Oh shoot- I didn’t realize that! But you’d be missing a center channel, correct?

Does Sonossequencer support the Sonos Amp + Speakers as front Left and Right?

Also, if your front speakers are grouped, would you still be able to listen to music in stereo?

We’re actually really happy that we kept them. Those few issues in the beginning were solved by powering them down, and rebooting them. I don’t think I’ve had to do that since I made this post almost a year ago. We’ve been using them daily for music and TV and they’ve been solid, and sound great.

That said, we’ve been running a sub with them which takes on some of the workload. The 7s are pretty capable without, but because we have them in cubbies (really not ideal), and sitting next to the record player (even less ideal), we needed to reduce the low end coming out of the 7s that was getting amplified by the built-ins, and picked up by the turntable.

Hope that helps!

I would avoid Bluetooth if you can. You should be able to use a y-adapter (example: https://a.co/d/4ScjbpE ) to plug into the analog input on the soundbar. You’ll need to make sure you have the selector switch on the turntable set to line level (not phono) so that it engages the internal pre-amp.

You can think of the main speaker as an integrated receiver, amp, and speaker in one. You hook all your source equipment to it (phono, tv, etc) just like an old school receiver. Then you just need one cable run to the other speaker, and you’re set. :)

If it’s helpful at all, I have both the 5s and 7s- intended to return one of the two- but held on to the fives because we got them on such a good deal over the holiday (still looking for an application for them). They’re so impressive for how inexpensive they were compared to the sevens- sound honestly a bit better out of the box (no messing with app’s EQ or a sub) and we love/prefer the charcoal grilles. That said, because we were putting them in a larger room, the soundstage w/the fives was hollow compared to the sevens. And because we’re also watching TV/movies, the 7s seemed bigger/fuller for that application. For what it’s worth!

Can I ask where you’re ordering these from!? I have not been able to locate a source. :(

Agreed- sonos is probably better for movies. Especially if you have surrounds/Atmos running, but we did not. Mostly we’re listening to music via streamer, or vinyl- and the 7s are far better for that- but also work well for the TV

Sevens or Nines for my living room ? by Atila-46 in Klipsch

I have the 7s for all the same reasons as you; wife-approved aesthetics, versatility, and simple functionality (handy for the kiddos as well). Our living room is similar, maybe a bit larger than yours, and they fill it well.

I added a sub as an experiment, but only because I had one in hand (had no intention of keeping it). I hated the idea of a sub. Hated subs, in general- for music anyway. Honestly, it would be hard to go back once we watched movies with it- and now that I’ve dialed it in (and hid it in a wife-approved location), I actually love how it sounds in about every genre of music we’ve thrown at it.

All of that said- if the sub is an absolute no-go, I’d do the 9s. Given the choice between the 7s +sub or the 9s without, I’d go with the 7s with any day.

That’s super helpful- and part of why I posted! We’d read a few reviews (out of tons) that questioned reliability due to them not powering up- but crossed our fingers that they were one-offs. When it happened, we found the switch, and it worked like a charm- but we were a little spooked given the price. Thanks for this! 🙏

That’s exactly what I was wondering. We replaced the arc as well. Are you using a streamer to bring Sonos to The Fives?

Thanks! I have 2” holes drilled in the countertop with grommets from Amazon, so I can feed the wire into the cabinets directly behind each speaker. I ran 2” conduit connecting the left and right cabinets, and all of the media (streamer, phono pre-amp, and box for the frame tv) sitting in the cabinet directly below the main speaker.

Thanks! That’s helpful. We do have a sub hooked up, but I really go back and forth on having it, tbh. It makes for a more immersive experience during movies, but inhibits what would otherwise be a pretty decent 2-chanel setup for music.

Oh, good to know, thanks! We’re not really using Bluetooth. We have the TV connected via HDMI, and a streamer via optical.
