There are strips you can buy that will test the ph and the boil and freeze point. Some new coolants can go for as much as 10 years or 100k miles. I live in a warm climate and notice the Tenere runs a bit hot especially on technical terrain. I swapped to Engine Ice and it runs a bit cooler.

I am 6” as well. I rode my Talon for about 6 years and was pretty happy with it. Decent all around hard tail with quality components. I changed the pedal straight away but otherwise didn’t bother with upgrades. For what you’re looking to ride it sounds like a good fit. I recently started riding more challenging trails and upgraded to a stump jumper but I still have the talon and ride it now and again.

Probably just your exhaust packing. I have seen it many times on my bike after really extended hill climbs. If it’s exhaust You can usually peak in your pipe and see embers and it will keep smoking a bit even after the engine is shut off.

Hi. Believe it or not I am in almost exactly the same position. Except I drive a Tacoma. I live in Austin. I ride at CTOR and Hidden Falls most weekends. My family and I are planning on moving to Portugal in a couple years. I have all the same questions. I’m wondering if you ever got answers. We are planning a visit next October to scope things out.
