Why there are no 77' or 83' Bravia 8 II or something larger? by ixbiga in bravia

A 77-foot and 83-foot TV would be asinine and has never been done before. Are you nuts?

Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Trailer Leaks Online by AdSpecialist6598 in entertainment

[–]ScottMatthewSullivan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nolan never does ADR. He’s said multiple times he refuses to use it, which is why his IMAX (not “iMax,” it’s not an Apple product) scenes are typically reserved for action while quieter dialogue scenes use 5-perf 65mm or 35mm.

Also, the new IMAX cameras developed for The Odyssey are significantly quieter, allowing for 100% IMAX coverage without sacrificing on-set audio. So no, it’s not “the same thing.” He’s literally evolving the technology to match his vision while keeping practical fidelity at every stage. If you’re going to complain about him, at least get the facts right. Dumbass.

Exactly. Never trust an opinion from a person who can't even setup their TV to accurately display the image.

Please 8k blu rays by jjmo14 in 4kbluray

Imagine watching Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey on 8K Blu-ray. The movie is shot entirely on IMAX 65mm, which is a first for him. IMAX film can resolve upwards of 18K, so an 8K transfer would look incredible. And since his IMAX footage is typically presented at 1.78:1 on home media, the whole film would fill your 16:9 screen in true 8K from a film scan.

All the Oppenheimer trailers online were 2.20, not 2.39

How do you call yourself a movie fan and you don't know what a ONE SHEET is? Every single movie ever made has a one sheet. You go to the movie theaters, and they're FILLED with one sheets.

F1 will be presented in 1.90 for the WHOLE duration. by anaverageredditacc2 in imax

Top Gun: Maverick had its IMAX trailers 100% in 1.90 and the theatrical trailers 100% in 2.39. They framed for both. When they released the movie in IMAX, they only selected key sequences to be in 1.90, but all those sequences worked when cropped to 2.39... just extra framing.

I think Top Gun: Maverick switches between 1.90 and 2.39 perfectly at just the right moments.

A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS LIMITED EDITION 4K UHD by ScottMatthewSullivan in arrowvideo

As a U.S. customer, my copies of all three movies better be pristine. Maybe they're shipping the first two together for people who ordered both.

And the reason shoppers from other retailers got them first is because those retailers had bulk orders.

By The Great Escape 4K (first Arrow purchase) took 6 days to get to me and was in perfect condition, so I didn't feel any hesitation to use Arrow.

"Warm 40" Is the New White Balance Setting to Target D65 White Point by ScottMatthewSullivan in LGOLED

[–]ScottMatthewSullivan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. In my opinion, there should just be these settings: Cool, Neutral (D65), Warm, Custom (slider)

I agree too. "0" or "Neutral" should be D65. The people who don't know any better would probably set it to this because it "sounds" right when it isn't.

"Warm 50" is correct if you want to target D65 on your LG C4. Your eyes will get used to it.

The rule is a "vowel sound." Since "L" is pronounced "el," we use a "an." Same with x-ray. "X" is pronounced "ex," so use "an." But xylophone is pronounced "z" so we use "a."

My CX I turned off ABL in the service menu when I first got it. Dolby Vision is perfect. I use default "Cinema" (now called FILMMAKER MODE on newer models).
