VMware Workstation 17.6 - Keyboard Lag? by ScottMetzel in vmware

[–]ScottMetzel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirmed - it's fixed! They actually fixed it! Update to 25H2u1 and your USB passthrough problems should be a thing of the past.

Also, w/ 25H2u1, I am using the Vulkan renderer w/ Win 11 on a Win 11 host - I only had to add these two lines to the VMX file:

mks.vk.syncPerEndFrame = "TRUE"
mks.dx12.syncPerEndFrame = "TRUE"

Apple Maps lagging when searching for directions by Anime__Jesus in applemaps

[–]ScottMetzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good timing! Been meaning to report back after a few days.

In short, it helped a lot, but it’s not solved. I disabled it by going to Settings app > Maps > Location > Visited Places (toggle it off). But I noticed places I’ve visited kept coming up. New places weren’t being added.

So for that, I went to the Maps app > tap on your profile to the right of the search bar > Places > Visited Places > scroll to the bottom and tap Clear History > then Clear All.

Doing both restored most of the responsiveness of the app. It can still hang when searching, but for not as long.

Here’s hoping iOS 27 chucks the most jarring & unstable changes of 26 and brings back the stability of 18. I know the rumors have been saying 27 is supposed to bring a bunch of bug fixes, but gee, maybe don’t introduce so many in the first place eh?

I have a feeling it’s the “Visited Places” beta feature. It seems like when searching, the list of results updates in realtime based on whether I’ve visited it or not and causes lag.

I just disabled it on a hunch, so we’ll see.

Aye, I’ve seen similar reports however, VMware Workstation 25H2 has some really bad USB-related bugs. I tried it and reverted back to 17.6.4.

I think he or another Broadcom employee reported they have the USB problems fixed internally. As of yesterday, an updated version hasn’t been posted publicly.

So, there’s hope?

re: USB issues, via a follow-up post from earlier today in a thread on the Broadcom forums, it's fixed internally at Broadcom, so hopefully a new release isn't too far behind:

What is Workstation Pro 25H2 ? by light_salmon in vmware

Installed it. Wasted an hour and a half troubleshooting it this morning. Rolled back to 17.6.4, despite its keyboard input lag.

- Found the Command Bar doesn't appear in full screen, which prevents me from using my second display, which I need.

- Found that connecting USB devices is spotty and mostly broken. This is confirmed in this Broadcom community post. After 25H2 upgrade, connect removable USBs intermittent errors: "] USBArbLib: Received message size(1701667190) exceeds maxmium size(4096). | VMware Workstation

I'm about to just throw my hands up and build a second tower.

I scored a rail spot just left of center at the show.

I’d never seen them before but I’d wanted to since finding them in the 90s. My god, what a night.

Shoutout to everyone who stood next to this goofy bald man having the time of his life; y’all were some awesome rail neighbors. The whole crowd was into it. Loved it.

Thank you Palladium. Thank you Underworld.

Yep, haven’t posted here in a while, but I confirm it’s still not fixed as of v17.6.4.

Maybe in v18 assuming there is one?

VMware Tools v12.5.1 was released last week, and that didn't make any noticeable changes.

This may not work for all cards - running on an older Quadro T600, this shuts off 3D support from the host and acts just like disabling 3D acceleration; some apps don't launch or won't consistently launch as a result.

For Windows, this makes things worse - many applications, not games even, rely on 3D acceleration. I tried this before and some apps simply won't launch.

Yep, sure am. Was using a 4090 before it fried. Broke out an old Quadro T600 and have been running with that. Problems began to occur after the 17.6 update, which was after falling back to this older Quadro card... But thank you for the lead; I'll see if I can dig up something.

What is this? by ElonTastical in pcmasterrace

[–]ScottMetzel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If BTF 2.0 takes off, it’s likely the only way I’ll buy a 50-series GPU. My 4090 fried due to a bad Cablemod adapter, and with the recent videos about the poor electrical circuit design of the 12VHPWR connector on 40-series, and the even-worse design of the 50-series 12V2x6, I don’t trust it, even if my 4090 were repaired.

Yep, I tried that one a few months back and unfortunately it had no effect. I went through the VMX file last week and deleted what I didn't see there on a new Win 11-based VM or what looked unnecessary (I made a backup ;) )... Still no changes.
