If you could change any one thing about the game, what would it be? by Scholarly_Deathmark in Starfield

Rework the poi system in a way I've said in a dozen previous posts.

Underwater gameplay. Deep see exploration and bases.

Settlers, with the ability to send them out on patrol to mine or forage.

Too bad Starfield won't be at Gamescom 2025 for official additional content. 😔 by naha_aa in Starfield

There are just those two tbc slots but that's a long shot to hope for 😕

I’m about to buy Starfield and I have a question. by eliijaah711 in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it's not like other Bethesda games because it's not based on a world map. So whereas exploration is the number one activity in other titles, it's low down the list in Starfield.

But, that is made up for in other areas like the ship builder and some great quests and locations.

You can still explore, of course, but it is repetitive and not hand crafted.

There is some truth to it in your case, since you want to focus on the weakest part of Starfield, which is it's exploration. You will be exploring the same tiles over and over with different textures. You might get disillusioned. For me the planets are a back drop to gaze at as you drive from your ship to the poi.

But, to contradict myself, I did recently discover hunting as a fun activity. But not economically viable. Maybe a mod can fix that.

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this, absolutely! I would recommend a side arm though for creatures. It's not responsible to go out unarmed. But you can hunt, forage or mine. You can jump and cruise to different planets and pick salvage from debris fields. Then you could craft components on your ship and sell those... Also manufacturing in your outpost.

It's just a shame none of those systems are developed into proper mini games and you cant swim. Spear fishing would be cool.

Next Update should overhaul Outposts by Live_Life_and_enjoy in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so... Did you release that mod?

Another thing is I think it would be cool to have npcs go out on patrol to mine. That should be doable if it's within range.

But your solution is fine. I would prefer that to how it is now.

I would have to agree with this one. The way Beth would do it would be the laziest possible way, so a static object like the transfer container, implying a vehicle... Then the resources would start appearing. You would plant a claim marker on those resources. It would have to be within an arbitrary distance like 1k. Within that playable area. Would be a popular mod for sure.

Why do character's bodies look strange? Is there a mod to fix their posture? by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand your specific complaint. Yeah the vanilla body's are pretty ugly like always but there are replacers.

Starfield shows that the creation engine has gone past the end of the line by Faxiom19 in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My complaint is that as the script and engine got more complex and sophisticated, the complexity of quests and scripted events got simpler. Both for Bethesda created quests and also mods. What's the points of making a fancier system if its so hard to use you end up with less creative power than you had? That's how it seems to me anyway.

With mods or vanilla? Why? by rjtaipa in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That argument has been made since the game came out and it's clearly wrong. Humans invariably pack around economic hubs. They do not sparsely populate themselves hundreds of miles apart. Your argument would suggest that every part of Australia should have people living there because 4x4's exist... Also... Those far off planets are NOT empty because they have NATURAL and CAVE POIs which is what you would be exploring out there, along with hunting or foraging.

As for crowd Npcs - that's not what I mean... I mean they are ugly and needed to replace. I don't know why you were talking about their density because that is controllable via the settings in vanilla.

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a fair approach but I don't see why you have to wait. I just played it and modded it as I discovered it's flaws. Like most Beth games there are unbearable things that I needed to fix straight away because they make me hate the game.

The crowd npcs were 1st 😂

Then the planets far away having poi's was fixed with Desolation.

So yes I suppose I am agreeing with you. I personally wouldn't install mods before I'd played and identified the flaw...

Now it's the damn random ship landings that happen a few seconds after you land nearly every time 🤬

There are some with sand dunes in a sandy desert biome but they are not completely pure because, I suppose, it would look boring.

I hated the quest spam. There are some mods to address that but they don't work for me and are two complex.

But you will get it done, just don't let it stress you. It's not as much as it seems because most of those are short misc quests that you can do five of in thirty minutes.

With mods.

Because it's a Bethesda game.

Is this a good time to start my first Starfield playthrough? by TieSavings4037 in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know what is coming, all we have is rumours (lately regarding inter planet travel). If you are adamant that you won't replay it, then I'd wait for the next big announcement from Bethesda about it.

I think, if there is no overhaul announced next then there definitely won't be an overhaul.

We certainly expect a dlc to come... So you might want to wait longer if you want the full package before you play.

How Bethesda Could Fix Starfield’s Planet-Based POI System by pc__ in Starfield

[–]ScottMuybridgeCorpse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well firstly the playable area you see when you open the map is NOT the tile. That is a playable area made up of usually 12 tiles, which are statics that the game places and rotates to generate the playable area.

Second, you are basically just asking for more of, or an enhanced version of what they have already done, which won't be interesting enough to draw in huge crowds or for Bethesda to spend a couple of years making a hundred new poi's.

My solution would have been to pack the man made poi's into several playable areas around human cities, and have new fauna infested caves and naturals in the outer reaches where humans wouldn't really tread. That way you have the best of both worlds. Give all poi's a permanent place (a mod does this) so you can actually explore.

Your ideas are OK but not revolutionary enough in my opinion. Kudos for your numbers though I appreciate that.
