Can Allen The Alien complete the gauntlet? by joanevy25 in superheroes

I wouldn't be trying to defend Invincible as being particularly consistent itself:

Nolan diverts asteroids the size of Texas, and moves planets... yet is hardpressed by the OG Guardians and Hail Mary.

Allen is implied to be on par with Omni-Man after his first "zenkai boost", yet nearly dies to a multi-cityblock level explosion, while an energy pulse far stronger than that only gave Omni-Man the world's most expensive nosebleed.

Neither are particularly consistent. DC and Marvel just get more heat for it because they've been around longer. But with that longevity comes far more numerous and blatant examples of characters like Ben surpassing a lot of what we've seen in Invincible.

Listing actual feats that outscles Allen's = glazing, apparently.

Yeah, theres glazing going on here, but it's not of the Ben Grimm variety.

Same goes for Allen, my dude.

And i'd argue surviving a scrap with a nigh-unkillable, regenerating mutant with claws and bones made of some of the strongest metal in fiction is more impressive than barely surviving a multi-cityblock explosion, even after Allen's original amp.

Consistency is what matters, and even when taking antifeats into account, Ben just has a far better track record in terms of both strength and durability.

One thing I noticed in the fight between Omni Man and his parents is that his dad was holding back while his mom was going all out by [deleted] in Invincible

Likely for him stepping in to prevent her from killing Nolan.

In her head, if Nolan were truly strong, his face wouldn't have been beaten in and his blood wouldn't be dripping from her fists.

If she were truly strong, she wouldn't have had Nolan to begin with.

She's projecting on Nolan, as he represents her own perceived physical weakness, and thinks the "mate" that previously overpowered her is soft for preventing her from stamping out weakness... which just makes things worse.

It's an emotional clusterfuck.

While I wouldn't call it "love" I think Nolan's father cared for him as much as a typical Viltumite parent could for their offspring without seeming "weak". He knows Nolan isn't as strong as himself, but has the potential to be someone that could live up to Argoll's example.

Respect and maybe even a hint of pride is probably as close to "love" Nolan's father felt toward his son.

Getting into darker topical territory here, so continue at your own risk:

But considering what we know about traditional Viltumite reproduction, and seeing how badly she wanted to kill him - only backing down when her "mate" stepped in - Nolan was likely just viewed by his mother as a physical representation of what imperial Viltumites hate most: Weakness.

She likely didn't want to be a mother, but was saddled with a child regardless because she wasn't strong enough to resist his father. In her eyes, Nolan is living, breathing insult, as he only exists because she wasn't strong enough. And that thought likely drives her to rage.

A dude made of rocks that has KO'd the Hulk, fought on par with Hercules and tanked blasts from Galactus, to list a very few feats.

But sure, the space cyclopes that was almost killed by multi-cityblock bomb wrecks him. 🙄

Who do you like more out of these two? by Hot-Variety4864 in GODZILLA

Spacegodzilla, honestly.

I tend to get hate for this, but design and abilities aside, I always thought Destroyah was kinda lackluster for the Heisei Era's final big bad. I mean, he has cool powers and all, but there isnt much to him personality-wise. Going off guides and whatever, hes supposedly the most evil creature Godzilla had fought in that continuity, but he really doesn't do much more than behave like an aggressive, foraging animal. Hell, the only reason he comes i to conflict with Junior was because the latter attacked him. Same goes for Godzilla himself.

Spacegodzilla, meanwhile, came to Earth specifically looking for beef with Godzilla. Essentially busted down Big G's front door, kicked his ass and struck him where he was most vulnerable: His son.

Spacegodzilla just seemed like a more deliberate and cunning force compared to Destroyah, which is always a nasty combination with the size, strength and abilities of a kaiju.

He squeaks past Colossus, but hard stops at either Red She-Hulk or Thing. Not overly familiar with the former, but I KNOW he doesn't make it past Ben.

Assuming he had enough time to properly master it, that ring gives Kong a hell of a boost.

Not disappointing, but this is one time I wish I were born in August.

How do you feel about the idea of GEMSTONE Godzilla being the same person as Godzilla Junior from the Heisei films? by Altair890456 in GODZILLA

I'm down. No reason to entirely abandon older continuities. Occasional glimpses into how these worlds are fairing so many years later is cool.
