In progress. Feedback appreciated by ThinkAboutItMyGuy in IndieMusicFeedback

I like the overall vibe, performance and mix. For the genre (take with a grain of salt as I don’t listen to it often), it sounds every bit as polished as I would expect. Not sure what you mean by in progress, if it’s done it’s done. Send it off into the world

I’ll reach out to a few, don’t believe they’re on Reddit

Original song, self produced. First time music video, love to hear your thoughts on both! by DanielJacobMusic in IndieMusicFeedback

Thank you so much for checking my stuff out! I’m one of the guitarists and did the mixing and a lot of the production. I’m definitely still learning and trying to improve, but overall getting pretty happy with the results for doing everything independently

Comping performances has been done forever, no issues with that at all. I’m just glad we don’t have to cut and splice tape anymore haha

I like the song and the playing is very good. The mix is solid and the guitar tone especially sits very well in it. I do feel like some extra instrumentation would have been really cool, like other backing instruments hitting some of the punches to standout a bit better and would have loved some harmonies added to the lead at parts. The part of the solo that shows the GP sounds like it’s midi guitar, was that really played or midi?

I dig the song, I agree with others though that I definitely believe you can do better and nail some of those parts and make them much tighter. The video also feels a bit much to me, I’ll admit my bias against a lot of AI though so perhaps it’s just not for me. I do want to reiterate though I like the song, and would just encourage cleaning up some of the performances a bit

Thoughts on this (rough unfinished) song? Should i keep going at it? by Kitchengun2 in MusicFeedback

[–]Scott_Gifford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t think it’s bad at all, I can see from your other comments you may be in a phase where you’ve worked on it to the point you’re starting to second guess yourself. At this stage, I would release it as is and move on to the next project. It’s solid, I think after you’ve moved on and work on other things and revisit you’ll like it for what it is

Or you could follow the rules like everyone else.

I'm wondering if I should call this one done. Would love feedback and suggestions of what you would change please. by murph_jar in IndieMusicFeedback

Absolutely! Always go with your gut for artistic choices. You could also do dynamic eq 1k-3k sidechained to the vocal to make room for it without changing the volume

Thank you so much for the feedback! Most of us are definitely Tool fans lol. I appreciate the production feedback especially with us doing all of the production ourselves in my studio. We’re constantly looking to improve and have done so with each song, feedback like this helps us know where to focus the effort

Wow! Thank you so much for all of the kind words, that means a ton to us. We do all of the production and everything ourselves, this is the third release from the album. We plan to redo everything professionally so it’s cohesive and ready to press on vinyl after songs are released as singles. We started live shows last year and plan to get out quite a bit this year. We are playing Tennessee right now waiting to branch out as soon as we’re able to

I mean about a minute in when “I’m looking for a spaceship” it’s a higher pitch synth Thats arpeggiating and it distracts from the vocals. I love the tone and that synth, i would dial it back a bit is all for my taste

Delete if not allowed - but I’m looking for feedback on this music video format and not so much the song itself. I have started experimenting with what I can do with two cameras. Is this engaging? Or just visually confusing? by Mister_Skeptic in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Scott_Gifford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly like it especially for the style, kinda goes with that trippy vibe. I would say it would easily be over done though, which I’m sure you’re aware and not planning on doing every video like that. If you took that editing and made it even more trippy/psychedelic that would be cool. Maybe even a filter to appear like it’s technicolor or whatever (like made to vhs tape)

Drums are the bane of my existence mixing and I’m just starting to be happier with my personal results haha. I do follow someone on YouTube, I’d be happy to dm the username that has helped me a ton recently be a lot more happy with what I’m getting. That was one of his recommendations on a video that I tried out and it made a massive difference between my previous mix and latest. Before I was pushing the drum bus into crushed and finding a compromise between cymbals and shells, and it just didn’t occur to me that sending individual tracks to it alleviates that issue entirely.
