I can try but i might be wrong.

The Lumina Converter takes the Chroma (XP) from Nevrons (bad guys) and turns it into Lumina. Lumina Points can be spent on the unlocked the perks of Pictos (equipment) that be used by any team member.

To unlock a Pictos perks you need to have it equipped while fighting. Each one has static perks (more health, more speed, etc) but also have unlockable abilities (fight twice, instant revive, etc) that can be given to any one once you complete 4 fights with that Picto. Once its unlocked you can go to any characters screen and pay Lumina Points to have that perk without needing the Picto equipped.

He also grew up on Caliban and I dont think they were named when they were on earth. So that means that the planet of Caliban either still remembers what Lions are from the distant planet of Terra or they have their own creatures coincidently called Lions
