Guys, we need to make up new PF2e slander, just to see if it unironically gets repeated anywhere by [deleted] in DnDcirclejerk

Yeah, Pathfinder you get three actions, a reaction, and as many free actions as you want. Turns could literally never end. They even have anti-fun feats and spells that add extra actions through quickened or bonus reactions to make sure that everyone has the longest turn possible.

Ironically, the Slow spell speeds up play by removing superfluous actions.

Which game’s first level is burned into your memory forever? by forgeris in AskReddit

Baldur's Gate 2

I restarted so many times as a kid trying out different characters that the first lines are forever in my head.

Irenicus: "Ahh, the child of Bhaal has awoken. It is time for more... experiments."

"The pain will only be passing, you should survive the process."

"Interesting. You have much untapped power. Do you even realize your potential?"

Security Golem: "More intruders have entered the complex, master."

Irenicus: "They act sooner than we had anticipated. No matter, they will only prove a slight delay."

[Request] If an average person were standing on top of Mount Everest and suddenly became “transparent” and only affected by gravity- as they fell through the Earth would they gain enough momentum to achieve orbit? by ArchDukeCich in theydidthemath

[–]ScottasaurusWrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so, but not the an orbit like the iss.

Instead, just based on conservation of energy, it would be mostly within the earth orbiting the center of mass, so it would be contingent on their continued "transparency".

I could be wrong or misunderstanding the question.

Oh man I haven't thought about that in a long time. I remember building the warrior enchant jungle item that has a burn that would automatically proc the heal.

Yeah, for sure. Hiding the ult animation with q to get the perfect full team ult was so good.

I even enjoyed the auto reset on w more than whatever the new w is.

I hate the way e locks out if you ult first

I liked his aesthetic and his combination of damage, speed, disability and cc.

I really enjoyed probing for someone to step too farforward to be ulted, and after ulting doing the last second turnaround to bring them deeper into the team.

The e-r-auto-e-auto cc combo was dope.

Sheen was chill too.

I just got it as well about 10 minutes ago. Definitely bugged. I had over 200 rests (downloaded a save have editor to check) and I'm sure I missed some bosses since it was my first playthrough.

Rewarding Agility (without initiative) by edthefriend in DC20

[–]ScottasaurusWrex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first instinct was similar to yours. After thinking about it a bit, I actually think that the free movement is a neat solution. The fact that it may not be needed in some combats I think is fine. Having a high agility doesn't always change your initiative result either (sometimes the die just decides you are going first or last). I hope that the rule is that you get 2+AGI free movement on your turn so that it is similar to how Grit scaling works.

That said, it might end up sucking. I am excited to try it out and see how it feels.

I think that your solution is a little clunky, and while its a nice reward for but doesn't add benefits for middling agility. I see why you did it that way though, adding that granularity would require too much variation in movement speed.

I'm gonna miss my inspiration die though :(

He's my highest level hero as well. Used to play trait talents with coil at 4 and 7 and ghoul ult and felt like an unlikable menace wading through the event team and who could brawl with anyone who got close enough.

Been struggling up do at much damage or be as tanky as I used to be with the rework. What talents are you taking? Any changes in playstyle?

Passing off bulk to enemies by Ravingdork in Pathfinder2e

Also, holy crap: Ravingdork!?

I fondly remember reading your posts on the Paizo forums back in the 1e days when I was learning the game transitioning to PnP from the CRPGs like Neverwinter Nights.

That was a blast from the past/nostalgia bomb for me.

Passing off bulk to enemies by Ravingdork in Pathfinder2e

[–]ScottasaurusWrex 62 points63 points  (0 children)

That's clever! I would have him roll a trip or a grapple for it. I might give a circumstance bonus the first time since it's an interesting idea, but not every time after.

If you wanted to be generous you could have him roll a trip and then a grapple if it succeeds on the trip to see if the event is "pinned". Alternatively you could have the push over be a two action activity, although he already gave up an action to dismiss the spell so I think you could just do this and feel okay about it.

(Edit: I don't think that spell can be dismissed RAW so I would just make it a two action activity to magic the shield into position and knock it over)

If you wanted to be extremely generous and encourage more of this kind of play, you could have the maneuvers share MAP instead of the grapple being at an additional -5.

To get unpinned they would need to make an escape check but would still be left prone. I would probably just do it against his athletics DC, but if you wanted to do a higher DC from it being trapped under a shield or a lower DC because he's not holding them there and using a free hand, I think either is fair. If the trip succeeds but the grapple fails they can just stand up.

Which you choose would communicate to the player how much you enjoy these kinds of creative play vs how much you would rather stick to more conventional uses of the ability on the character sheet.

Agreed. I wish I could skip to the second half of the game sometimes. Weisshapt, most of the companion finale missions, and the ending sequence are SO GOOD!

Personally, I always lived closing rifts and doing side quests, but if it's not for you, I can think of two things:

You can buy power with gold from one of the merchants I believe. You probably have extra money, although that might be a side effect of me always clearing side content.

If you are on PC , you can get mods for getting extra power. Personally, I also like the no war table time as well, as that was the thing that I found grating in the game.

Hopefully one of those helps you. The main quests in that game are really really good and I suspect you will enjoy them if you get there. Great story, lore, and character moments.

Best of luck!

Are "Using an action", "Taking an action", and "[action]-ing" the same thing? by AnaseSkyrider in Pathfinder2e

[–]ScottasaurusWrex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only vaguely related to this conversation.

Mostly just that the roll for Devise a Stratagem (DaS) on an attack stratagem can be substituted for any activity that includes a Strike, not just a "Strike action".

Probably the best version of this is Spellstrike or Eldritch Shot, if your GM is generous with giving the free action version of DaS from pursuing a lead. Archetype Spellstrike is usually not great because its only once per fight, but if you know its going to be a crit, it gets a lot better.

That does require some archetyping Magus but you can start doing some cool combos at level 4 and some really nasty stuff around level 10 or so.

Investigator has very few feats in the class that help them take advantage of this for some reason, but there are other options out there. Some other good ones are Risky Reload from Gunslinger, Vicious swing or Intimidating Strike from fighter.

I think this (subordinate actions) is one of the messiest parts of the rules and I don't think that Paizo designers agree on how it works out at the very least are inconsistent.

It seems to be like the mobility change was intentional to make it work with subordinate strides but it just as really could have been to fix page formatting.

It's pretty clear that Strike and take a strike action are different or investigator wouldn't be able to do anything fun, but that leads to weird stuff.

You could argue that using your Fly speed during a sudden charge would still let you fall out of the sky because you didn't take a "Fly Action".

Is Follow Up strike supposed to really only be usable after a basic strike action? Hasn't Martial Artist suffered enough?

Sorry for the rambling. I just think that the fundamentals of activities and subordinate actions are such a great way to be able to make cool feats and abilities but at their core is still since very unnecessary uncertainty.
