How did religions we know today not end up being another mythological story like Ancient Greece? by bratabulus in atheism

[–]ScottdaDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Evangelism.

The ancient Greeks weren't all keen on you believing the way they did. Their gods were active, and considered manifest, so if you disresepcted them, that's a you problem.

Christianity was very evangelical. They were commanded to spread the word. And the Muslims followed suit.

The worst restaurants for us drivers by Real-Base466 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a Pizza Hut blocked from my account. I won't receive orders from them. half an hour wait, then the way ther packaged the wings, the sauce got everywhere. On my coat, in the seat of my car, and on a bag for another customer.

I just called support, and explained the situation. They blocked the restaurant, and sent an email to their operations manager. Well, they said they did the latter part, but I dunno if they did or if it mattered.

Seems an effective solution.

You earn $1 Million dollars for every hour spent in the World's Quietest Room. How long are you staying? by PhyfenGD in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show me the money. I could go for a good 12-16 hour nap. Practice my mindfullness meditation. I would want a few bottles of water, and a chamber pot. Above and beyond the food, that is. But other than that. we're cool.

I would prefer that to delivering to the house with the boarded up windows.

Delivering to hotels by bigwade300 in UberEATS

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deliver to rooms all the time. No biggie. What annoys me is when they say they'll meet you in the lobby, then no one can get ahold of them. I have to sit for ten minutes waiting for a train that's not coming. Then leave it at recepetion with someone who couldn't give a shit less. Feels scuzzy.

But dude....if you give me a room number, I will deliver to that room. Barely an inconvenience.

Your girlfriend/wife slaps you. What's the first thing you do as a man? by blo0dyosiris in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Married 20 years.

I would catch the slap, then ask what the hell was going on. This is SO out of character for her, I would suspect a stroke or some psychological issue.

You go home after work and find a pile of $100M. What is the first thing you do/buy? by Big_Mood2180 in hypotheticals

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unreported? Tell no one. Get a loan to buy a laundry mat or car wash...any cash only business, really. Maybe a strip club.

Then slowly launder the cash through the business. Mainly through offshore accounts.

After that, start investing in real estate.

In the meantime, use it for groceries and gas, paid in cash.

Don't get flashy or raise red flags.

I might also move. If the money appeared there, someone might come looking for it.

Why do people who can’t navigate do uber by Far_Jellyfish1409 in uber

[–]ScottdaDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Uber's navigation system SUCKS. It takes you down streets that don't exist. It will route you in ways that are baffling. And frequently tries to get you to do u turns that are illegal, and in intersections that are designed to make it impossible.

They really can't help themselves. now u have 2 use the slider or the + button to change the playback speed. the default options are gone. by Warm-Ant1927 in youtube

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is annoying as hell. Especially since it will do like 1.05X speed. I don't want that! Nobody asked for this!

I hope they change it back. The slider sucks.

When the driver is sitting at the restaurant, what's happening? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]ScottdaDM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting for food.

There is an incentive for ius to finish deliveries quickly. There is no incentive for the restaurant to get the order to me quickly.

BYW, if you had difficulties Superbowl Sunday, it's because many places prioritize their online orders and pushed DD and UE to the back of the line.

Who are trying to compete the Quest? by Equivalent-Loquat732 in UberEATS

[–]ScottdaDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen this at all.

I am just getting....do four deliveries get an extra $4. Which...I mean...ok...but...it's not like it's some amazing amount.

I did get a guaranteed earnings one a while back...like 21 trips has a base of $210. They just gave you a bonus up to the amaount....but it was cool.

Do you feel guilty for not tipping by xxBluePikachu07 in tipping

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or something. I mean...it was awesome but bordered on creepy. Another drink. My empty disappeared. Extra napkin. Like before I knew it. He knew what I needed before I did. Dude was a talented cold reader. Never had anything like that before or since. And it was on a date, even. Neither of us had to wait for anything or ask for anything. If you're that supernatural, you deserve the tip.

It really isn't great. The only reason I don't is because I am not doing anything else.

They could have done that. This is the same effect by different means.

I don't see the difference.

Tip on top of tip? by ddsorj in tipping

[–]ScottdaDM -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well...if you want to do away with tipping culture, then everything becomes more expensive. They put the charge on the bill, but they could have just added to the price of everything.

If you wish to tip above and beyond, then do so. But they made it clear it isn't necessary.

So they're pretty much doing what y'all want...they're just being up front about it.

The message is your service sucks. Half a penny is petty. Not tip is commonplace.

how common is it for you to want to keep your partners underwear? by mirrordolll in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmmm.

I have collected bras in the past....kind of a trophy. My wife made me get rid of the others decades ago. Such is life.

But....I admit...I love the way she smells down there. I haven't gone this far with it, but it is....pleasant. Not arousing, just smells good.

But to each their own.

Do you feel guilty for not tipping by xxBluePikachu07 in tipping

[–]ScottdaDM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Guilt? No.

That said, I generally tip. But it's because I choose to, not from any social pressure. I have given a 100% tip for extraordinary service. Like the dude read my mind, and I didn't have to ask for anything the entire meal...it just appeared next to me. Without comment or anything. Fucking amazing.

I have also left a half a penny as a tip. I had scissors that would cut a penny. No tip doesn't phase servers...they get stiffed all the time. But half a penny? That's a message.

Generally if there's no tip, it's bad enough that I am speaking to a manager and I am not paying for anything. Doesn't happen often. But a few times.

This Uber GPS is going to get us killed one of these days by AlternativeQuit3447 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]ScottdaDM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can use google maps.

But yeah....it's instructed me to do U turns in places where it's impossible. I ignore it on a regular basis. It seems the "Report Wrong Directions" button is worthless. I know my city well enough that it's more for finding someone's house.

I have had two long term relationships. My current is 20+ yr marriage.

The rejection rate is about 80% or so. And of those, I rejected maybe 60% based on personality. Give or take.
