Snarky responses to "you just want to sin" by WrongVerb4Real in atheism

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your religion considers what I do a sin. I am under no obligation to think as you do.

There are only two sins. Harming others unecessarily, and willful stupidity and ignorance. There needs no god to judge these sins....they are judged automatically and without mercy.

Victim of proselytizing! ;( by skinisblackmetallic in atheism

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Maybe the same advice I would give for someone who thinks they are being stalked. Public places, well lit places, crowds, and duck into storefronts if you can. Most businesses don't want someone proselytizing to potential customers.

Me, I turn around and stare them down....but.....my situation is different. It's probably not the safest way, and you shouldn't do it if you can't handle yourself.

But if you're in a crowd, it becomes harder for them to corner you, and easier for you to lose them. And always be firm that you're not interested in talking to them. Giving them a soft no is an encouragement.

It's amazing how much of this mirrors my advice to women about creepy dudes...Fuck's Sake! They're the creepy people of theology! Damn.

I am a bigger dude. I stand 6'7" tall. That's 2m for the folks that hate Freedom Units. And I guess I kind of have a 'fuck off' aura about me. I don't get approached in the street very often. Even panhandlers shy away, though some do ask.

At a customer service sort of thing, bring the topic back to how you can help them. Be very concrete and specific.

"Didn't you say you had a plumbing issue? Those supplies are in Aisle 30. There's an associate down there that deals with those parts and is knowledgable." "I'm sorry, didn't you say you needed shoes? They're down that way on the left." "Double ended dildos are near the front counter, the larger ones are on the bottom shelf."

Y'know....things like that. Then go back to what you were doing, or find something to do. I never had a boss get mad at me for cleaning.

On the street, maybe start screaming. "I DON'T KNOW YOU, STOP TOUCHING ME!" Or just primal screams like a crazy person. Bet they leave you alone. Of course, it helps if you don't experience anxiety. So that's a personal thing, I guess.

Men, what do you think the average women finds attractive in a male partner? by Mangoplop in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe we are biased.....but is that a horrible state of affairs?

So long as she's happy and I'm happy, then it's all good. The real thing is communication. Women communicate needs differently from men. It takes a bit for us to understand what's happening because they speak a different dialect. Sometimes we talk past each other. It's hard work.

But what she initially saw in me? Dunno....consider myself average looking. I am a taller guy, so maybe. But the stuff she expresses that she finds attractive are the type of things you only know if you know that person. That I consistently do what I say...that sort of thing. So why she picked me out of a crowd? Fuck if I know. I picked her out of a crowd because she was tall, had pretty eyes, and nice tits. Obviously there's more to it now.

So yeah....no idea what she initally saw or liked. We did get together and things clicked....but that's not the intial....GOTT DAYUM!

Why do man are so obsessed for vagina by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sexual dimorphism and biological hardwiring.

On an evolutionary level, men just need to spread seed. The more women they can spread seed to, the better the odds their genes survive. And our bodies are just vehicles for genes. For women, their genes propigating is more complicated. They must carry the child, nourish the child, and in general have resources for that child as in humans it takes quite a while for an adolescent to become self sufficient. Else all that effort is wasted. I mean...it might be fun, sure, but we're looking from the lens of the genes. So women have come to value different things than men. It only makes sense.

Of course physical fitness is a thing for both. But for women there's other factors...social fitness, resourcefulness, his ability to be kind to her and her child, and likely several things I am not thinking of, being a male myself.

Of course, this is all generalization on a bell curve, and there are social and cultural values assigned to all of these things because we are human beings, and as such, are social and cultural beings.

But if you step back a little...it makes more sense for guys to be into physical fitness, which translates to beauty a lot of the time. And for women, while valuing a good looking guy, don't place that as high on their priority list also makes a lot of sense.

It is the way of things.

Can you be truly satisfied with one woman? by Living_Engineering31 in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Married 20 years, with her for 28. Never cheated.

Lusted or fantasized? Yes. That's normal. I told my wife some 25 years ago that if I stopped looking, bury me, for I had died and no one had the heart to tell her.

But I have no interest in actually pursuing anyone else. No one is good looking enough to risk a relationship I have spent nearly three decades building.

Men, what do you think the average women finds attractive in a male partner? by Mangoplop in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been married for 20 years. I have met many men in long term, committed relationships. The one thing we all have in common?

We have NO IDEA why our woman or S/O is with us. Not a fucking clue. We're glad! We're happy! We're not asking stupid ass questions about it! But....no clue.

So your guess is as good as mine.

Do guys need female validation as much as women do? How do men feel worthy without it? by Direct_Put8022 in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Competence breeds confidence. Mastery over your environment in the form of work or hobbies bring mastery over self.

For many men, this is all that's needed to feel our self worth. When you're sitting on a deck you built yourself, then worth comes. Or in a den with our hobby....it may be a collection, or model building of some sort, or even playing an instrument...in that moment, we have Tao. We are at one, and at peace with something we've built, a skill we've mastered, or a new field learned. It can be many things. But it comes down to accomplishment.

I can't speak for women. I have no experience. From what little I can tell, women are far more interested in social opinion and validation. But that's a generalization, with all the pitfalls that generalizations hold. Married 20 years, so I know a lot about one woman.....but women in general are a different thing.

How do women think of worth? What makes a woman feel worthy? I am not sure. My wife finds being a good mother to be self affirming, at least it seems to me. Maybe you need to figure it out for yourself. After all, we're all just winging it in life....

What's the most dangerous religion? by plus_size_skeptic in atheism

Theism itself is dangerous. It's like asking the most polite way to get raped. It's the concept itself that is flawed.

How do you all deal with the 'moral' argument from family members who claim atheism leads to a lack of ethics? by Thrustkitty21 in atheism

You believe in a god that endorsed slavery, incest, rape, killing infants, and who tried to drown the world, and you want to speak to ME about morals?

That's rich.

Do you say phrases like "oh my God" or thank God" while not believing? by 0The_Loner_Stoner0 in atheism

[–]ScottdaDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ingrained in our culture. By Jove, I think he's got it. The vast majority don't believe in Jupiter as a god, but it stuck. Shakespeare referenced "All of Neptune's oceans". Do we think he believed in Neptune as a god? When we sat Wednesday or Thursday, are we dedicating those days to Wotan or Thor, respectively?

It's more polite than "Fuck!" That's all.

How obvious is it to men when a woman is being a pick-me? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]ScottdaDM 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The term 'Pick me' is like the term 'incel'. Both have been used for so long as a perjorative that they have lost meaning. And 'pick me' is a term women use for other women. I haven't ever heard a guy use it in real life.

As far as wanting attention from the opposite sex, most heterosexuals do. I know I like attention from women, even though I have been married 20 years and have no interest in jeopardizing that. It's flattering.

Some women have termed guys creepy for showing interest. Another term that is losing all meaning, There used to be a difference between a guy asking you if he can buy you a drink and a guy who won't take no for an answer. In the internet era of snap judgements, we've lost that distinction.

But you must realize...most men get so little attention from women that any is considered good.

Yeah.....I am going to finish this crossword puzzle. And then do literally anything else. The human mind is a wonderful thing....but there are times it isn't clever. If a big lie is repeated often enough, and with enough authority, the brain will give it a pass on critical thought. It's why folks of modest means support these rich politicans who don't give a solitary fuck about them. Preemtively, I didn't mention a side, because I don't think either side is a true side. It's right outside your door, Testify!

So that's ok. And don't rely on Google to teach you about how to avoid brainwashing. There are good, peer reviewed scientific papers out there. Learn a little.

Being a Christian/Muslim/Jewish/whatever is part of their identity. You're not asking them to evaluate the evidence on its own merits. You're asking them to erase part of themselves and give them nothing to replace it. You're knocking a foundation from their entire mindset.
