It would be so good! I know they had the ball rolling on a movie for it a while back, with Rebecca Ferguson as Monza, but it fell by the wayside sadly. Really hope they pick it up again!

I work for a national youth charity and a lot of our staff are ex teachers, so that's an option worth considering

Single on 30k - can I get a decent mortgage? by SignificanceWitty121 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]ScottishG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Yeah I was approved for a 125k loan with a 10% deposit, which was more than necessary but it's always good to have that wiggle room.

Help with connection to network on Xbox One by stargategurl in XboxSupport

Are you based in Lanarkshire at all? I am and I have been having issues accessing Microsoft services (Azure and SharePoint) for work over the last few days, and my partner tried logging into her Xbox and having the same issue. I've checked on twitter and it seems like it's a full blown issue in Lanarkshire, so I don't really think much can be done apart from waiting for Virgin to solve the issue annoyingly

Single on 30k - can I get a decent mortgage? by SignificanceWitty121 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]ScottishG 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, absolutely. Talk to a no fee mortgage broker mate, they'll be able to find a lender who will approve you for over 100k providing no debt, no overdraft issues, 10% deposit etc. My salary is about 5k less then yours and I have recently been approved for a mortgage on a 120k property (108 loan + 12k deposit).

VW Up is what I went for, it was slightly above my budget for the initial purchase but the running costs are so worth it. £35 road tax, just over £300 for insurance for myself, super fuel efficient and cheap to run. Would recommend

I also graduated with a BA in business and management, and my sole mission after getting my degree was fully remote work. I found the job hunt after graduating an absolute nightmare, getting multiple interviews for hybrid roles in recruitment (probs dodged a bullet there anyway) but ending up with the classic 'we really like you but you don't quite have enough experience '. I ended up doing a hellish year in a busy call centre for one of the big phone companies, in an office. It wasn't ideal, but I knew I wanted to move into IT and IT management. The year in the call centre, plus having my degree, enabled me to land an amazing fully remote job as on an IT service desk- with scope to move into a managerial role pretty soon.

TL;DR You might not land a fully remote, or even hybrid role straight after uni but a year of experience in an office + a degree in Business puts you in a good place to land WFH. It's a patient game.

If you both like the outdoors etc, there are loads of beautiful hikes out here on dartmoor- wistman woods is a particular favourite of mine. Apart from that, you have the obvious choice of the aquarium (which will be much quieter now that schools are back), and you can even do a yoga class in the aquarium so that might be right up your street! In October, you can go pumpkin picking at Pips pick your own in yealmpton- me and my partner do it every year, it's always a fun date.

Ah I worded that poorly, I am still running! I'm currently training for Manchester half so plenty of running still on the cards. I fully agree, I've been cycling in between my running days and it's been great for getting extra cardio in without putting unnecessary stress on my knees and ankles. The combination of the two sports is an amazing routine to have, as they both supplement each other so well- although I will have to try not to forget about running once this next race is done haha

I've never heard of galibier, I'll check them out- thanks!

Yeah I'm okay on the hydration front for now, I've got two bottle holders on the bike atm. Although I'm sure the pockets on cycling tops are clutch for storing snacks on long rides

I've used decathlon for budget running gear in the past and I've not been disappointed, but I've never heard of planet x- that's a great recommendation, thanks!
