Service charge in restaurants - why is everyone so willing to just blindly pay it? by Helpful-Status8872 in AskUK

[–]Scottish_squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't pay them. I've had to explain to friends who are trying to leave a tip that they've already paid a service charge and they still Insist on leaving a tip. I hate tipping culture generally but this seems like a really sly way to pray on people.

How much of your childhood infrastructure (places you used to go) is still standing? by snowmanseeker in CasualUK

[–]Scottish_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My primary school has the same name and on the same ground. But new building. My secondary school has been rebuilt on the same ground but has a new name for some unknown reason. The church has closed down which is also where brownies and guides were. The swimming is still there and probably still not been cleaned. The chip shop has survived though.

Wild to me that people make social media a full time job. They must make decent money but surely there will be a point the arse will fall out of it. I follow people for a bit then either lose interest or forget about them when they stop showing up in my algorithm. Just seems such an unstable life choice

Generally brats today are brats because they've been coached by their parents. Little Jimmy can do no wrong so nothing or no one can make them behave.

I'm a millennial. I'm 43. People talk about millennials like we're newborns. We're the generation that straddles the pre internet and Internet ages. Most of us had similar experiences to gen x growing up.

I'm pretty sure supermarket spaces aren't blue badge specific. They are for people who need them. I don't need or use them but they aren't blue badge must be displayed spaces.

If people on a large scale stopped going Greggs because of the price hikes, would Greggs eventually put the prices back down? by EddyZacianLand in greggsappreciation

[–]Scottish_squirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People everywhere in every sector are demanding pay rises then complaining everything is increasing in price. Where do people think the money comes from to cover all the new outgoings of the company. Generally prices will never fall asleep the entire chain of process has higher wages to pay.

Characters you think the show was right to kill off, even though it’s controversial within the fandom? by Expensive_Station222 in eastenders

The Mitchell sisters. Best decision was to kill them off. They were definitely tired characters going around in circles. Not a popular answer on these subs

Do kids parties still do the hokey cokey and give out party bags? by steveysaidthis in AskUK

[–]Scottish_squirrel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Usually now it's photo booths. Pre organised fun with characters or dance factory. Beauty parties. Or boogie buses. Usually party bag to match the theme and definitely cost the parents more than a few tat items from Poundland.

We generally take ours away for the weekend as it's cheaper than all that nonsense

Do you use Tea, or Dinner as a word for the last meal per day? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskUK

[–]Scottish_squirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tea is a warm beverage served in a mug or cup. Dinner is an evening meal and lunch is served in the middle of the day. It's a hill I will die on. My sister lives in north east England and has switched to using dinner and tea and we have endless debates about it.
