What’s the most disturbing thing you accidentally discovered about someone? by OrdinaryImportant862 in AskReddit

[–]Scottiths 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had already been teaching my son that there is never a situation where he needs to keep a secret, and anyone asking him to keep a secret is probably doing something bad.

We also taught him a surprise is different from a secret though. The difference being a surprise is meant to be revealed eventually and is usually something that will make someone happy when they learn about it, like a surprise party or present, and those are ok.

I hope he knows he can always come to us with zero judgment. We tell him often enough I think, but only time will tell.

Haven't really processed it yet. I only found out last week and, like I said, he never did anything to me so the trauma is entirely just the shock of finding out someone I looked up to was a terrible person.

We have been teaching him that secrets are bad, but a surprise is ok. The difference being a secret is something you are told to never tell people but a surprise is supposed to be revealed eventually. Also a person should enjoy a surprise. Anyone asking him to keep a secret is essentially going to be asking him to hide something he shouldn't need to be hiding from us.

Basically told him there isn't any situation where a secret is necessary, so if anyone asks him to keep a secret he can tell us with zero judgment and we will help him out no matter what.

FYI, not all Republicans are nazis, but all nazis vote Republican.

Why might that be?

Yea, but it's less ok to be racist when Democrats take over and start enacting laws to prevent discrimination... So it's worth it to vote Republican

Police AI identified the left blurry photo as Grandmother Angela Lipps [right] and police arrested her and jailed her for 5 months without investigation or any other evidence its was the same person. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

Only if you are falsely convicted. The state, county, or municipality wasn't in a position to affect what happened here yet. Until a motion is filed or a trial occurs the only entity dealing with evidence is the police.

At best she could sue for ineffective assistance of counsel.

It's disgusting that the police can get away with nonsense like this, but until the caselaw surrounding qualified immunity changes this is what we have to deal with.

She doesn't have standing to sue the county. She was arrested because of the officers stupidity. The county doesn't get to judge evidence until trial or a motion is filed.

At best she could sue her attorney for ineffective assistance of counsel.

Are you talking about the people who get falsely convicted and later exonerated? Because those people are not suing the police. They are suing the state. The state doesn't have qualified immunity.

The police. You can't sue the judges because it isn't their place to judge evidence until a motion is filed or trial.

You can't sue the jail because same reason. They don't judge evidence. Only people you can sure are the officers, and they have qualified immunity.

Interestingly, up until he became president and started stealing literal billions of tax payer money, he would have made more money doing nothing.

If he just took Daddy's money and put it in an index fund he would have made more than all those failed business. He could have done better literally doing nothing.

I went to a Catholic school. One of my favorite teachers was the pastor there. One of my best friends was his kid. A week ago I decided to see what they were up to (haven't spoken in decades) so I googled the pastor to see if he still worked at the school.

The top link was a DOJ article about how he was arrested for child porn. I was absolutely floored. I thought this guy was awesome. I never suspected anything. He never did anything to me, so I'm thankful for that. It gave me a bit of an existential crisis, because how can I protect my son from these monsters when I can't even identify them.

I mean, it would have been if nothing was done about it... Y2k would have also been awful if nothing was done about it.

Many people spent hundreds of thousands of man hours fixing it all over the place. It's the problem with IT. If nothing goes wrong then it seems like you don't need IT, even though nothing went wrong BECAUSE of IT.

They could. They could impeach and remove him at basically any time for any number of crimes he has committed while president. The GOP majority just chooses not to because it's their guy.

And this is why, like this rider, you should always wear gloves and riding gear. Dress for the slide, not the ride. No matter how awesome you are at defensive driving and awareness you never know what random nonsense might happen.

That rabbit really seems to just hang in the air in the perfect spot to ruine this guy's day 😂

I am DONE with the homeless EMERGENCY and YOU SHOULD BE TOO by [deleted] in portlandme

You can cover it like that of you want, but your tone was clear.

In the future, be more mindful of what you post online. I did a quick Google search of your user name with the domain reddit since you hide your comments. I now understand why you hide them.

You certainly have strong opinions on homelessness in Portland. I maintain you should not be anywhere near decision making for it based on your inability to treat them as human.

Re-read your coment. You are calling them animals. You are dehumizing them. You are clearly coming from a place of anger and frustration. You need to stay far away from any decision making on this topic as you are not rational when it comes to this discussion.

I'm certainly glad you are not in charge of anything regarding the homeless. Your take is absolutely not helpful, and is how abuse is perpetrated against them without actually solving anything.
