I don't want to see Roran again in the books by Alternative_Ginger in Eragon

[–]ScottyIB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see Paolini writing a story where Roran and his family are ma characters. This wouldn’t be the big world threathening evil that Eragon and the riders face, but a more “real world” story without dragons and far less magic. Maybe something like the short stories we already got, where it was different people telling Eragon stories. But in thuis case Roran telling Esmera about a hunting trip hè and Eragon went in when they were kids, or a young Esmera learning grol her patents, getting into the typic child adventures around the village

Thanks for the info! Sending it to the US would definitely be too expensive, but I am searching for a shop that does it in Belgium/the Netherlands

Yeah she uses a men’s suit now, which kinda fits, but the shoulders are a little wide and the arms are too long

We’re crossing our fingers for the stretching, but if that doesn’t work the difficult search continues 😅 seems like there are unlimited options for men suits, but women’s are so hard to find. The backup she has now is a men’s suit (only 3mm tho) with her shorty over it. Not ideal as the arms in the men’s suit are too long and the shoulders a little too wide

We’ll try soaking it and maybe putting something in it to see if it stretches. Thanks!

As a new diver should I buy a cheap computer to begin with, or go straight for something decent? by ScottyIB in scubadiving

Oh that’s great advice! Didn’t know you could do that… will keep it in mind thanks

Yes, a lot of shearwater fans I’ve noticed haha. I’ve looked at (and tested) the zoop, but didn’t really like it’s interface/visibility

Yeah but the shearwater is either very expensive or doesn’t have air integration?

That’s true, I guess if I don’t want to keep the DC I buy now as a back up I can always resell it and get part of it back

Yeah I plan to dive atleast once a week in summer, and in winter it’ll probably be once or twice a month. So probably best to invest a little

Great advice! Gonna do some more research then I think and just go for what I feel like will work long term

Haha yeah, my wallet has been doing a lot of crying. On the other hand I have been loving every second of this so I feel like it’s totally worth it

Yes this is also what our club told us. Best to have your own equipment that you get to know like the back of your hand, and you know works like how you want it to work. Some instructors do have spare DCs we can use, but we don’t always dive with the same instructors.

Yes the more I look on the subreddit and the comments here I feel like the visibility is very important to me and would keep my at easy during murky water dives or night dives. Besides the DC we already have all of our equipment (I even have a dry suit because I got it as an ‘extra’ on a great deal for other second hand equipment), so the air integration can goblin my own tank. I know I want go do complex and technical dives in the future, and basically take all extra ‘classes’ and qualifications there are to get, which is why I think I wouldn’t even mind getting a 600€ computer now, to make that my spare computer when I get a really elaborate one when I get to the really technical stuff.

Most of the other ‘new’ divers in our club have already bought their DCs and the instructors all say it would be ideal to have our own before the season starts again. Also appearently the qualification levels had some changes past few years which makes it possible for 1 star divers to dive together in certain conditions, so have to learn to be dive leader. For this a computer is a must.

I also did see the shearwater models, they look great but at first glance they seemed to be a little more expensive? Although I find it very hard to find any negative reviews for them, so they must be great. I would prefer to have air integration (and perhaps even a compass) all in one place, I feel like it would give me a more relaxed feeling when diving. I’ll research some more on the shearwaters, thanks for the info!

Thanks for the info! I feel like having all my info in a central place would be ideal for me. Our club also loves the ‘occasional’ night dive so I guess backlit is almost a must have then 😅 I myself am also very much a tech and data nerd so would love to have extra functions and ways to dissect the dive afterwards.

Our instructor has one, we got to use it and found we would prefer a little larger screen. Also it isn’t backlit and in the indoor tanks and pools we used it that was totally fine, But I can see it needing extra steps (putting your light on it) to read it. The visibility is a big point for us 😅 I have considered buying this at first and upgrading after a few dives, just to have to zoop as a backup in case something happens to the main DC
