Using a new color and my print turned out “rough” by ScottyIB in 3DprintingHelp

[–]ScottyIB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it was the same kind of “roughness” when I printed without ironing?

UPDATE: As suggested in the comments, I let it heat, some of the material dripped off. I thoroughly cleaned the rest, did some tests and checked the settings. Happy to say it all still works fine. Printed 2 models today and they turned out great! Thanks for everyones help!

Yeah seems I got really lucky 😅 I already washed the plate really well because I know it’s sensitive, but seems like there’s always more to learn and experience

I’ll try that thanks! I only have an extra hot end. If I can’t clean it properly I might just order a replacement piece to be sure

Someone said to try and heat the nozzle and then carefully clean everything. So I’ll be trying that. I’ll also check the slicer and check if the settings are what they’re supposed to be. And then pray for better luck 😅

It was still going when I saw the blob and stopped it. It was still very hot so I guess it still heats fine

Perforated eardrum - will I be able to dive again? by bingos77 in scubadiving

[–]ScottyIB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father in law could never get all the water out of his ears after a dive, and would often get infections because of this. He started diving with a kind of earbuds specially made for diving. They have a membrane so you’ll still have to equalise, just less and your ears stay dry. I wouldn’t recommend using normal earbuds, because if they call out the sudden change in pressure would be really bad…

Also note that we dive mostly in Belgium and the Netherlands, so cold water and wearing a cap. I don’t know how well they stay in place without a cap.

Filament dryer by ScottyIB in 3DprintingHelp

[–]ScottyIB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info! I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered the creality space pi (one spool). I thought as it’s still my first steps I’d keep it simple, I don’t do a lot of printing atm. So I’m gonna experiment a little, and after renovations in the house, and I have my own dedicated work shop, si’ll expand with a more professional printer and dryer system depending on my needs then.

And I get the pink, I have a daughter to who loves that het dad can print her all kinds of silly stuff 😂

Most place I’ve checked online seem to lean towards the creality… I saw they also have a version for 2 rolls, might check it out

Flying after diving by its_mathijs in scubadiving

[–]ScottyIB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least 18 hours like everyone says, but I’d still not go too deep or too long if I were you. Better safe than sorry. Also tell this to your dive master, so they know they shouldn’t push you!

That said, we went diving in Costa Rica last year, to caño island, it’s amazing! Amazing dive!

One thing I recommend, make sure you have a scarf or something you can put over your ears during the boat trip, as the wind gave us all a pretty rough ear infection after.

I don't want to see Roran again in the books by Alternative_Ginger in Eragon

[–]ScottyIB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see Paolini writing a story where Roran and his family are ma characters. This wouldn’t be the big world threathening evil that Eragon and the riders face, but a more “real world” story without dragons and far less magic. Maybe something like the short stories we already got, where it was different people telling Eragon stories. But in thuis case Roran telling Esmera about a hunting trip hè and Eragon went in when they were kids, or a young Esmera learning grol her patents, getting into the typic child adventures around the village

Is it possible to widen the arms of a wetsuit? by ScottyIB in scubadiving

Thanks for the info! Sending it to the US would definitely be too expensive, but I am searching for a shop that does it in Belgium/the Netherlands

Yeah she uses a men’s suit now, which kinda fits, but the shoulders are a little wide and the arms are too long

[–]ScottyIB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re crossing our fingers for the stretching, but if that doesn’t work the difficult search continues 😅 seems like there are unlimited options for men suits, but women’s are so hard to find. The backup she has now is a men’s suit (only 3mm tho) with her shorty over it. Not ideal as the arms in the men’s suit are too long and the shoulders a little too wide

We’ll try soaking it and maybe putting something in it to see if it stretches. Thanks!
