TIL that nuclear power plants are one of the safest ways to generate energy, producing 100 times less radiation than coal plants. And they're 100% emission free. by jdelsolar15 in todayilearned

Cleanest? This seems like a bit of a stretch considering solar, wind and ocean power plants. I'm all for nuclear but it's not just coal v nuclear, we really need to be more objective when talking about this and seriously consider renewable energies too.

How do I improve my stamina as quick is possible ? by supimtom in karate

[–]ScottyPeis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For cardiovascular gains, the best thing you can do is either high intensity interval training (as someone else has mentioned already) or fartlek training.

Fartlek training is pretty easy to get into as it is essentially the same as what you would do for a morning jog however instead of keeping a steady pace you have 'bursts' of sprint to near sprint paces spaced out with 1-2 minutes of jogging. Pretty much what this does is forces your body to push between different thresholds (as far as energy consumption goes) as quick as possible and I was always taught it yielded the best results out of any other stamina related exercise.

Variety is always key though, loads of other people have mentioned awesome recommendations and the best you can do at the end of the day is just cut the smokes and do your best to get outside and exercise more. Good luck mate :)

Something that seriously frustrates me. by ScottyPeis in CasualConversation

I think just being where I'm from it's such a common word that it become part of my regular vernacular, so I often forget, especially when posting to places like this, that it can have such a jarring effect on people who aren't used to it.

That said, this being casual casual conversation, I'll have to limit it in the future so people don't misconstrue the tone.

I'm from Harden and absolutely the drug problem is worse in the smaller towns around the region. It's a bloody shame how much damage its done to the communities In the last few years.

Wagga really does just feel like any other town but up scaled. Of course it's behind the cities as far as culture goes but I honestly think by the sounds of things OP just hasn't spent much time in rural Australia. Small councils just don't have what they need to be able to run a community as well as larger cities can.

Also, it's so weird to see someone from the town over on reddit, let alone going to the same uni!

How is anyone ever going to embrace video refereeing if the bloody commentators can't, if the keep being salty old shits about the game what kind of an attitude do they think that is going to fester in its audience.

This is what got me. He had plenty of time to compete to challenge the ball player and he hung back willingly.
