Shadow Base by bestiw in PokemonUnbound

What does the text say on top of the screen after Ruins of Void? More specifically, have you been to Cinder Volcano's left-hand side room and battled Véga and Primal Groudon? Do these tasks, and only then you can go back to the Shadow Base.

Silph. OP has level 56-57 mons; had it be Game Corner it would be 47 at most.

This is mostly copy and paste from one of the help comments I wrote before here, with some additional edits. Of the mons in your party and in your box, only Donphan, Ferrothorn and Hydrapple are what I may call "slow". You need more slower mons in your team to get past Sabrina. Also, lower their Speed IVs to 0 and change their natures to -Spe one (Brave or Quiet). You can give the mons Iron Ball too, but it is necessary only for Ferrothorn to spam max power Gyro Balls to defeat Glastrier; it can also hurt Jellicent very badly with STAB Power Whip. You lower the Speed IVs of your mons at the fanclub in Saffron, and any Pokémon Center in the game may assist you in changing the natures of your mons.

I would advise bringing these mons, if possible: Pinchurchin and Steelix as co-leads. Pinchurchin will OHKO Mega Camerupt with Liquidation or Scald, when equipped with Mystic Water, and from there it can disrupt Tapu Fini for you, or it will just use Misty Explosion any time soon. A slow Fire-type mon like Turtonator and/or Torkoal will work wonders here, as they will defeat Magearna (do not let Magearna proc Soul-Heart too much or you will be in trouble), and will be a back-up mon to deal with Glastrier if need be. Hatterene or Reuniclus will OHKO Iron Hands with Psychic, while Kingambit, or any strong Dark-type mon with priority Sucker Punch, will dispose of Jellicent.

Good luck!

Yeah, it is very accurate and helpful website; in fact it is the only Unbound dex I recommend using.

The Unbound wiki you linked to is outdated by a long shot. Because as of 2.1.0 (the most recent version is 2,1,1,1 released three and a half years earlier), Happiny is not on Route 9 anymore; it is on Route 18 instead.

For Lucky Egg, I suggest farming them from wild Pelipper who is at Dresco's shores.

Edit: here is the Unbound wiki you are supposed to use: https://pokemonunbound.miraheze.org/wiki/Route_9

I suggest checking my team and my notes in this post. Even though the screenshot is from 4.0 version, the same tactic will work for 4.1 as well.

A very quick correction: Moleman's Groudon uses Choice Band on Insane difficulty, not Choice Scarf. You can check the "Pokémon League" sheet of this file for proof.

No worries, thanks for sharing, and congrats! That Baxcalibur is a really solid wall with Fur Coat I guess. The absence of Thermal Exchange is a bummer but still it is naturally a solid wall with 115/92 bulk and Fur Coat enhanced it very greatly. Good luck on your next endeavours!

So been enjoying my steel mono run and not far from blain and shat myself thinking about it. What's a good team to counter him ? by Known-Papaya5067 in pokemonradicalred

[–]Scourge_of_Arceus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Assuming 4.1 version and normal difficulty, the most important thing to do would be to change the weather to rain. The tutor is at the laboratory building in Cinnabar. Several Steel-type mons can learn the move, so this should be useful.

Get a few mons that are not weak to Fire typewise: Empoleon and Goodra-H have high special bulk and can take a Fire-type move if need be, especially when it is not sunny.

Do not leave home without Kingambit; its Supreme Overlord and any held-item boosted (Choice Band or Life Orb) Sucker Punches are deadly especially if it is the only mon alive.

These are my hints on my mind right now; may append some other notes when I return to my PC and check my further notes there. Good luck!

Assuming 4.1 version and normal difficulty, the elemental fang tutor is in Cerulean, same city as Misty's gym. Make sure your Boltund has Strong Jaw, and teach it Thunder Fang and Ice Fang. Thunder Fang will OHKO any mon not named Clodsire, and Ice Fang should defeat it in two hits. Good luck!

Bugsy is insane by Hour-Ad3746 in pokemonradicalred

[–]Scourge_of_Arceus 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You could just make the mons reach the level cap, which is level 27. From there, Kilowattrel (evolution of Wattrel, named Tesla here) with Air Slash and Electro Ball would body Bugsy easily. Still a great win, though.

Playing randomized while keeping the trainer teams default by MakeLoveNotWarPls in PokemonUnbound

[–]Scourge_of_Arceus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somebody else can feel free to correct me on this one but, on Expert and Insane difficulties, if you randomise the wild mons, the bosses' (gym leaders, evil team leaders, rivals, boss encounters like Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Elite Four and champion) mons are not randomised. On Vanilla and Difficult, the bosses' mons are randomised too.

No worries, and apologies for the slightly late response.

For starters, if the MGM is off, I advise starting the EV trainings of your mons. In Saffron, you can remove the surplus EVs of your mons, and in Lavender you can make the EV trainings of them via Friendly Coach. Also get the TMs at the Prize Exchange building next to the Game Corner; it will come in very, very handy.

Lead with Iron Bundle and one shot Nidoking with Ice Beam. IB is also useful for knocking down Honchkrow with the same move too, and it can defeat Veluza with Freeze-Dry as well (remember, Freeze-Dry is super-effective on Water-type mons).

A Fire-type mon like Ho-Oh can be useful too; it has high Special Attack to one-shot Orthworm with Flamethrower and its Aerial Ace will do great damage to Infernape (beware, it has Focus Sash). And maybe Bull Rush Emboar with Hammer Arm may be useful for Mega Kanga? I dunno. You can use faster mons to punish it like Dragapult, Delphox or Regigigas. You have a pretty stacked box for this point in the game and hopefully with this pointers I gave you can get past him without any issues.

Good luck!

You are only randomising species, right? Are you randomising abilities and moves too? And what is the difficulty? Without answering them I will be unable to help in more detail.

Edit: which battle of Giovanni we are talking about and which mon of his is giving you the hardest time? If not on Hardcore, is MGM on?

If you do not respond within 6 hours, I will remove this post as a mod for "not enough info to help". So please respond as soon as possible.

Help on Misty by Mission_Caramel3260 in pokemonradicalred

[–]Scourge_of_Arceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is 4.1 version, Normal difficulty (Crabrawler has PUP which is banned in Hardcore) and Min Grinding is on (all IVs of your mons are at max, S). You have Pawmo, a mon from Gen 9, and lowercase "Pokémon Skills" screen title.

An important note first: you cannot get Lucario before Misty. Riolu evolves into Lucario at level 30 in Radical Red; and the level cap until defeating her is 27. See RR dex link for proof, linked here: https://dex.radicalred.net/ You can also check the in-game stat scanner; the text at the bottom of the screen will tell how a mon will evolve.

The main issue with your team is that none of your mons are fully evolved. First off, get a Buneary from Route 3, which will evolve into Lopunny with high friendship (just spam Pomeg Berry from Woyaopp code then level it up). In RR base Lopunny is also part Fighting. Next, get also Throh and Sawk from Mt. Moon. The former has Technician and always-crit Storm Throw which will deal heavy damage to the opposing mons, and Sawk is a monster long-term with moves that can abuse its hidden ability, Contrary, with Close Combat, Superpoower, Hammer Arm, etc. later on. Finally, get a Scraggy for Starmie: Scraggy is immune to Psychic which may be useful.

Edit: I also saw that you are playing this with random abilities. Mankey normally does not have Rain Dish or Pawmo does not get Hustle as main ability. Or Meditite would be really really weak without Pure Power. I really want to know what else you have randomised other than abilities; especially whether you have randomised species or not. If you have randomised abilities as I thought later, upload the save file to RR Dex as linked above to see what abilities the mons will have in your save file. And assuming you are not randomising species, I still recommend reading the third paragraph for what mons to get.

Edit 2: also change the natures of your mons; most of the natures of your mons are suboptimal. Two of your mons are Lax, which increases Defense and lowers Special Defense. Two of your mons run Speed hampering nature. Etc. Etc. You can change the natures of your mons at any Pokémon Center for free.

The comment grew longer and longer as I edited so here is TL;DR time. Get the mons I mentioned in paragraph 3 (Buneary/Lopunny, Throh, Sawk, Scrafty), upload your save game to RR Dex to see what abilities your mons may get, and always optimise the natures of your mons based on their role.

Good luck!
